Overview
Hamamatsucho Station is a south-central Tokyo interchange in Minato and the main station for Tokyo-Shibaura and Blue Front Shibaura. It is useful for travelers who want JR movement around central Tokyo, direct Tokyo Monorail access to Haneda Airport, and walking access toward Shibaura, Daimon, Kyu-Shiba-rikyu Gardens, Zojoji Temple, and Tokyo Tower.
Lines and connections
The JR side is served by the Yamanote Line and the Keihin-Tohoku Line, giving direct movement toward major central stations such as Tokyo, Ueno, Shinagawa, Shibuya, and Shinjuku depending on direction and line. The Tokyo Monorail side is the city-terminal station for Haneda Airport services.
Daimon Station is a separate nearby subway station, useful for Toei Asakusa Line and Toei Oedo Line access. For Blue Front Shibaura and Fairmont Tokyo, the practical route is the South Exit side and Green Walk rather than the older west-side route toward Daimon and Tokyo Tower.
Airport access
Tokyo Monorail makes Hamamatsucho one of Tokyo's clearest rail anchors for Haneda Airport. Fairmont Tokyo lists Haneda Airport as 13 minutes from Hamamatsucho by Tokyo Monorail, followed by a six-minute walk between the station and the hotel.
Station area
West of the station, visitors find Daimon, Zojoji Temple, Shiba Park, and Tokyo Tower. East of the station, the area opens toward Kyu-Shiba-rikyu Gardens, Shibaura, Hinode Pier, and the newer Blue Front Shibaura development.
Good to know
Hamamatsucho is not a Shinkansen station. Use it when Haneda access, Yamanote Line movement, or Shibaura-area hotels matter; use Tokyo or Shinagawa when the trip is built around Shinkansen departures.
