What this station is useful for

Overview

Takamatsu Station is the main JR station for Takamatsu and the rail hub for the city’s waterfront arrival area. Its value for visitors is straightforward: JR trains, station shops, airport bus stops, nearby hotels, Takamatsu Port, and Kotoden connections are all grouped within an easy-to-navigate gateway.

Lines and connections

JR Shikoku identifies Takamatsu Station with station numbers Y00 and T28, reflecting its role on both the Yosan and Kotoku Line sides of the network. The station supports travel across northern Shikoku, along with rail arrivals from the Okayama direction. Kotoden services are available nearby at Takamatsu-Chikko Station.

Airport access

Airport limousine buses connect Takamatsu Airport with the station and the hotel area around JR Hotel Clement Takamatsu. This makes the station area a convenient point for airport travel, although the airport link is by bus rather than JR rail.

Station area

The immediate area includes TAKAMATSU ORNE, coin lockers, rental car services, station-side hotels, Takamatsu Port, Sunport Takamatsu, and the waterfront side of central Takamatsu. Tamamo Park and the castle area are also close by, adding sightseeing value to the station area.

Good to know

Takamatsu Station is the main JR anchor for arriving in the city, but it is not the only rail stop visitors may use. Kotoden’s Takamatsu-Chikko Station is separate and is better suited to Kotohira and Nagao Line trips, while ferries and airport buses provide additional non-JR travel options within the same station-area zone.
