Overview
Kotoden trains leave Takamatsu-Chikko Station from Takamatsu's waterfront for Ritsurin-Koen, Kotohira, and Nagao. Tamamo Park is almost beside the platforms, while Takamatsu Station and Takamatsu Port are both a short walk away.
This compact layout makes transfers from JR trains or ferries straightforward, without requiring a trip across the city first. If you're staying in the Takamatsu Station Area, Kotoden services remain close to the port and waterfront hotels.
Lines and connections
Takamatsu-Chikko is K00 on the Kotohira Line and N00 on the Nagao Line. Kotohira Line trains run directly to Ritsurin-Koen, Busshozan, and Kotoden-Kotohira, while Nagao Line trains head east across the city toward Nagao.
The Shido Line doesn't start here. Change at Kawaramachi Station, where all three Kotoden lines meet. Kawaramachi is also closer to the covered arcades and denser dining streets around Takamatsu-Kawaramachi.
Airport access
There is no airport train. The Takamatsu Airport limousine bus stops at Takamatsu-Chikko, and the trip from the airport takes about 40 minutes. Its timetable changes monthly to follow flight schedules, so check the current departure time before travelling.
Station area
Tamamo Park, the former site of Takamatsu Castle, is about a minute from the station. Sunport Takamatsu, the JR station, waterfront hotels, and the ferry area are all within walking distance.
This side of central Takamatsu feels more open and transport-focused than Kawaramachi. It is especially convenient when a day combines Kotoden travel with an island ferry, a JR connection, or a short visit to Tamamo Park.
What's nearby
Ritsurin Garden is directly accessible on the Kotohira Line via Ritsurin-Koen Station. Ferries leave Takamatsu Port for Naoshima, Shodoshima, and other Setouchi islands, although the correct pier and ticket counter depend on the route.
Good to know
Takamatsu-Chikko is not a JR station. Use nearby Takamatsu Station for the Yosan and Kotoku lines, trains across the Seto Ohashi toward Okayama, and longer JR journeys around Shikoku.
Ferries depart from the port rather than the station itself. Confirm your boarding point before walking to the waterfront.
