Overview
Kawaramachi Station is the main Kotoden transfer point in central Takamatsu. It is a convenient station for visitors staying around Takamatsu-Kawaramachi, exploring the city’s shopping streets, or changing between Kotoden lines without going back to the waterfront station area.
Lines and connections
The station is served by the Kotoden Kotohira Line, Nagao Line, and Shido Line, with station numbers K02, N02, and S00. Kotoden’s English guide identifies Kawaramachi as the station connected to all three lines. Travelers starting from Takamatsu-Chikko need to change here for Shido Line services.
Station area
Kawaramachi is closer to Takamatsu’s central commercial streets than Takamatsu Station. Hotels in this area work well for travelers who want easy access to shopping, dining, airport limousine bus stops, or Kotoden routes toward Ritsurin Garden and Kotohira. Travelers focused on JR lines, ferries, or the port area may find the waterfront station area more convenient.
Good to know
Kawaramachi is a Kotoden station, not a JR station. For JR Yosan Line, Kotoku Line, ferry, and port-side travel plans, use Takamatsu Station or nearby Takamatsu-Chikko as the relevant reference point.
