Overview
Naha-Kokusai Dori is central Naha's main hotel and shopping district, covering the area around Kokusai-dori Street, Kumoji, Palette Kumoji, and the prefectural government side of the city. It is one of the easiest areas to base yourself when a trip calls for airport access, restaurants, evening walks, and a wide choice of city hotels.
What the area is known for
Kokusai-dori is known for shopping, food, souvenir stores, Okinawan crafts, bars, live music, and side streets leading toward markets and arcades. The western end near Kumoji is close to Okinawa Prefectural Office, Naha City Hall, Palette Kumoji, and Kencho-mae Station.
Stations and access
Kencho-mae Station is the main Yui Rail stop for Kumoji and the western side of Kokusai-dori. Makishi Station is useful for the opposite end of the street, though the best choice for hotel access depends on the exact address and how comfortable the luggage route is.
Where it fits in a trip
Choose Naha-Kokusai Dori for a walkable city stay before or after a beach, island, cruise, or driving itinerary. It is better suited to dining and everyday convenience than to a quiet resort atmosphere, and it is more practical for car-free time in Naha than many areas outside the monorail corridor.
