Overview
At the southern end of Nagoya-Sakae, Yabacho Station serves the point where the main department-store blocks begin to give way to Osu. A direct underground passage connects the station with Matsuzakaya Nagoya, and it is the closest subway stop to TIAD, Autograph Collection.
This isn't a major interchange. Nagoya Sakae Station is one stop north, with a transfer to the Higashiyama Line, while the Meijo Line continues south toward Kamimaezu and Kanayama.
Lines and connections
Yabacho is M04 on the Nagoya Municipal Subway Meijo Line. Northbound trains reach Sakae in one stop and Hisaya-odori in two. From Sakae, the Higashiyama Line provides the most direct subway connection to Nagoya Station.
Southbound trains call at Kamimaezu, Higashi Betsuin, and Kanayama before continuing around the loop. Kamimaezu connects with the Tsurumai Line, while Kanayama provides transfers to JR, Meitetsu, and other subway services.
Airport access
There is no direct airport train from Yabacho. For Centrair, take the Meijo Line south to Kanayama and change to Meitetsu. Traveling through Sakae and Nagoya Station is also possible, but it requires another subway line.
TIAD, opposite Exit 1, estimates about 50 minutes from Centrair by Meitetsu and subway. Allow extra time for the transfer and final walk, especially with luggage.
Station area
Matsuzakaya Nagoya is directly connected to the station through Exits 5 and 6. TIAD, Autograph Collection is about one minute from Exit 1, facing the greenery along Hisaya Odori. Nagoya PARCO and the surrounding Sakae shopping streets occupy the nearby blocks.
Shopping sets the pace here. The immediate area is less sightseeing-focused than the landmark cluster around Sakae Station, with restaurants and shops extending north toward the main Sakae intersection and south toward Osu.
What's nearby
Hisaya-odori Garden Flarie is about three minutes from Exit 4. Its six themed gardens provide flowers, greenery, walking paths, and seasonal events near the district's southern edge.
Matsuzakaya and Nagoya PARCO are the closest major shopping anchors. For Oasis 21 and Chubu Electric Power MIRAI TOWER, Sakae or Hisaya-odori is usually the better station.
Good to know
English signs and websites use several spellings: "Yabacho," "Yaba-cho," and "Yaba Cho." They all refer to the same Meijo Line station.
Only one subway line stops here. Yabacho is the more convenient choice for southern Sakae, nearby hotels, and the department-store blocks; choose Sakae when a Higashiyama Line transfer or the northern downtown sights matter more.
