Overview
Tenjin-minami Station is a Fukuoka City Subway Nanakuma Line station on the south side of Tenjin. It serves the Imaizumi and Watanabe-dori side of the district, with underground and street-level routes leading to Tenjin's shopping, dining, nightlife, and hotel areas.
Lines and access
The station is served by the Fukuoka City Subway Nanakuma Line as station N16. Now that the Nanakuma Line extends to Hakata, Tenjin-minami is a useful option for travelers staying on the south side of Tenjin who want a direct subway route to Hakata Station.
Area orientation
Use Tenjin-minami for hotels around Imaizumi, south Tenjin, Watanabe-dori, and the southern end of Tenjin Underground Mall. Tenjin Station on the Airport Line and Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin) Station are nearby but separate, so the best choice depends on your hotel entrance and walking route.
Why use this station
Tenjin-minami works well for travelers who want easy access to Tenjin shopping, restaurants, and nightlife, along with a direct subway connection to Hakata. It is less direct than Hakata Station for Shinkansen platforms, but more convenient for many hotels in the southern Tenjin area.
Good to know
Tenjin-minami and Tenjin are connected within the broader Tenjin station area, but transfers can involve a fair amount of underground walking. Check your exit before you arrive, especially if you have luggage.
