Overview
One station complex carries two names. Tameike-sanno serves the Ginza and Namboku lines, while the connected Kokkai-gijidomae platforms handle the Marunouchi and Chiyoda lines. Transfers between them stay inside the paid area.
For visitors, the station provides eastern subway access to Tokyo-Akasaka. Hie Shrine and the offices and hotels around Sanno Park Tower are close by, while direct Metro routes run across central Tokyo.
Lines and connections
The Ginza Line handles straightforward east-west journeys. Trains run directly toward Shibuya in one direction and Ginza, Ueno, and Asakusa in the other. The Namboku Line is the better route for Roppongi-itchome and Meguro to the south or Iidabashi to the north.
Follow signs for Kokkai-gijidomae when using the Marunouchi or Chiyoda line. The Marunouchi Line provides direct rides to Tokyo Station and Shinjuku, while the Chiyoda Line runs through central Akasaka and Omote-sando. These are internal transfers, but you'll need to walk between separate platforms rather than step across to an adjacent train.
Station area
Exit choice matters. Exit 7 has an elevator and is the clearest option for Hie Shrine, Sanno Park Tower, and the walk west into Akasaka. Exit 6 serves The Capitol Hotel Tokyu, while Exit 13 leads to the Ark Hills and Suntory Hall side of the complex.
The exits are spread around broad roads and large office blocks. Check the number before reaching street level, especially if you have luggage or are meeting someone nearby.
What's nearby
Hie Shrine is the main visitor landmark near the station. Behind The Capitol Hotel Tokyu, its grounds include a staircase lined with red torii gates, a distinct change of pace from the surrounding business district.
Restaurants and evening activity become denser farther west in Akasaka. If your plans center on Akasaka Sacas or the middle of the dining district, Tokyo Akasaka Station may be more convenient.

Three nearby station names frequently appear in directions for Akasaka hotels. Tameike-sanno is the eastern option for the Ginza and Namboku lines, with an internal connection to Kokkai-gijidomae. Tokyo Akasaka Station serves the Chiyoda Line and central Akasaka, while Akasaka-mitsuke Station serves the Ginza and Marunouchi lines farther west.
The neighborhood name alone won't reveal the shortest walk. Check the station, line, and exit in your hotel's directions before setting out.
