Overview
Three rail networks meet at Oimachi Station in southern Shinagawa Ward: the JR Keihin-Tohoku Line, Tokyu Oimachi Line, and Tokyo Waterfront Area Rapid Transit Rinkai Line. The layout is easy to grasp. Together, these services provide direct routes toward central Tokyo, western neighborhoods, Odaiba, and the city's southern side.
For visitors staying in Tokyo-Oimachi, the station offers more route choice than its place on the JR map might suggest. There is no Shinkansen service, but Shinagawa is nearby on the Keihin-Tohoku Line and handles many long-distance connections.
Station background
The surrounding area changed substantially in March 2026 with the opening of OIMACHI TRACKS and JR's new Tracks Gate. Built on land with a railway-workshop history, the complex combines offices, residences, and a hotel with shops and public leisure spaces on its lower levels.
The Tracks Gate belongs to the JR station. Tokyu and Rinkai retain separate fare gates and passenger areas within the wider interchange.
Lines and connections
JR Keihin-Tohoku Line trains run north toward Shinagawa, Tokyo Station, Ueno, and points beyond. Southbound services continue toward Kamata, Kawasaki, and Yokohama. For many north-south journeys along Tokyo's eastern side, this is the simplest route.
The Rinkai Line heads east toward Tokyo Teleport, Kokusai-tenjijo, and Shin-kiba. In the opposite direction, trains reach Osaki, with many continuing onto the JR Saikyo Line for Shibuya, Shinjuku, and Ikebukuro. Check the destination display, as stopping patterns and final destinations vary.
The Tokyu Oimachi Line begins here and runs west through Hatanodai and Jiyugaoka toward Futako-tamagawa and Mizonokuchi. It is particularly helpful for cross-city journeys that don't need to pass through central Tokyo.
Airport access
Scheduled public airport buses connect the OIMACHI TRACKS North Rotary with all three terminals at Haneda Airport. The stop is beside the station, but this isn't a hotel shuttle. Road traffic can affect the journey, so check the current timetable and allow a suitable buffer before your flight.
For a rail route to Haneda, take the JR Keihin-Tohoku Line one stop to Shinagawa and transfer to the Keikyu Airport Line. Narita Airport also requires a connection elsewhere in Tokyo; Oimachi has no verified direct train or bus to Narita.
Station area
OIMACHI TRACKS stands beside the new JR gate. Shops, restaurants, a cinema, and wellness facilities occupy the public levels. Offices, residences, landscaped spaces, and Hotel Metropolitan Oimachi Tracks complete the complex.
Around the other exits, older shopping buildings and restaurant streets give Oimachi a more everyday character. Meals and basic errands are easy to handle close to the platforms.
What's nearby
Oimachi provides direct rail routes for Odaiba-area visits on the Rinkai Line, western Tokyo neighborhoods on Tokyu trains, and southern business or residential districts along the Keihin-Tohoku Line. Shinagawa is the key nearby transfer point for Shinkansen and Keikyu airport services.
The immediate neighborhood favors convenient city life over a checklist of famous landmarks. The tradeoff is straightforward: visitors give up a landmark address for flexible transport and a less hectic place to stay.
Good to know
JR, Tokyu, and Rinkai form one interchange but use separate fare gates. Follow signs for the correct operator, especially when transferring with luggage.
The Tracks Gate provides direct access to OIMACHI TRACKS. It does not connect directly to every operator's platforms.
