What this station is useful for

Overview

Direct airport trains distinguish Meitetsu Gifu Station from neighboring Gifu Station, the city's JR hub. Meitetsu services connect Gifu with Nagoya, Inuyama, and Central Japan International Airport.

Both stations are in the Gifu Station Area. The operators do not share a concourse or ticketing system.

Airport access is the standout. Direct limited express services reach Centrair in about 60 minutes, depending on the timetable, without a transfer in Nagoya.

Lines and connections

The Nagoya Main Line links Meitetsu Gifu with Meitetsu Nagoya and Kanayama. Services range from limited express to local trains, so destinations and stopping patterns vary.

The Kakamigahara Line provides the route toward Inuyama, while other departures serve the Shin-Hashima direction. These connections give Meitetsu Gifu a different regional role from the neighboring JR station.

Airport access

Direct airport limited express trains operate between Meitetsu Gifu and Central Japan International Airport. Some services have first-class cars that require a separate first-class ticket, while ordinary cars on eligible trains use the regular fare. Check both the destination and car type before boarding.

Station area

Bus stops, restaurants, convenience stores, and hotels surround the station. Daiwa Roynet Hotel Gifu is about two minutes away on foot, a convenient distance for an early airport train or a late arrival from Nagoya.

JR Gifu is a short walk away for Tokaido Main Line and Takayama Main Line services. The transfer is above ground rather than within one integrated rail complex, so allow extra time when carrying luggage.

What's nearby

Buses from the central station area run toward Gifu Park, Kawaramachi, and the Nagara River. The immediate neighborhood is better for transport, hotels, and meals than for sightseeing on foot.

Good to know

Meitetsu Gifu and JR Gifu are different stations. Confirm the operator when arranging a meeting point or deciding which exit to use for your hotel. For the airport, also check that your chosen limited express departure is direct before relying on a transfer-free journey.
