Overview
Dormy Inn Gifu Ekimae is an eight-minute walk from Gifu Station via a pedestrian deck and 10 minutes from Meitetsu Gifu Station. Although it isn't directly beside either station, guests return to a natural hot-spring bath, sauna, and breakfast featuring several Gifu dishes.
The location supports rail trips, business appointments, or an overnight stop before continuing north toward Gero and Takayama. Direct Meitetsu trains also connect the city with Central Japan International Airport.
Rooms
Room categories start with a 12.6-square-meter Economy Single and extend through Double, Twin, and Universal options. Most have Simmons beds. The 21-square-meter Twin gives two travelers more floor space, while the 28.1-square-meter Universal room is the largest choice.
The Economy Single doesn't have a private shower, so guests in that category use the public bath on the sixth floor. Double rooms are also compact at 13.8 to 14.8 square meters. Smoking rooms are on the tenth floor, with a separate smoking booth on the eighth.
Facilities
Separate men's and women's baths on the sixth floor use hot-spring water brought from Ikeda Sakura Onsen. Each side has an indoor bath, high-temperature dry sauna, chilled cold bath, and open-air cooling area. The baths remain open from 15:00 until 10:00 the following morning, although the saunas close between 1:00 and 5:00.
Coin laundry and vending machines cover everyday needs, while the room television shows congestion levels for the baths and breakfast. After bathing, guests can have complimentary ice cream; a probiotic drink is served in the morning.
Dining
Restaurant Hatago serves a Japanese and Western breakfast buffet from 6:30 to 9:30. Gifu specialties include keichan chicken with soy-miso sauce, Mino Kenton pork stew, and Hida beef mabushi rice, accompanied by small dishes and cooked-to-order egg items.
Complimentary light soy-sauce ramen is served from 21:30 to 23:00. It's a welcome option after a late arrival or when dinner finished early.
Location and transport
The hotel is west of Gifu's two central rail hubs in the Gifu Station Area. JR Gifu provides Tokaido Main Line trains toward Nagoya and Takayama Main Line services toward Gero and Takayama. Meitetsu Gifu has routes toward Nagoya, Inuyama, and the airport.
Buses from the station area continue to Gifu Park, Kawaramachi, Mount Kinka, and the Nagara River. The main sightseeing district isn't a quick walk from the hotel, so most visitors will need a bus, taxi, or bicycle.
Airport access
The fastest journey described in the hotel's access guide from Central Japan International Airport takes about one hour. Direct airport limited express trains serve Meitetsu Gifu, followed by a 10-minute walk to the hotel. Check the timetable, since stopping patterns vary and not every departure provides a transfer-free journey.
Why stay here
The overnight bath schedule allows time for a soak after a late train or before an early start. Together with the sauna, local breakfast, and late-night noodles, it adds substance to a station-area stay. Both JR and Meitetsu services are within walking distance for Nagoya connections, Takayama Main Line departures, and direct airport trains.
Beyond the station district, Gifu Park, Mount Kinka, Kawaramachi's old merchant streets, and the Nagara River cormorant-fishing area reveal the city's riverside and mountain setting. Local buses connect the hotel area with these sights.
Good to know
The Economy Single doesn't have a private shower. Tattoos are prohibited in the public bath, and the official policy doesn't list an exception for covered tattoos. Guests unable to use the bath should book a room category with its own bathing facilities.
Partner parking is available in the adjacent Gifu Sky Wing 37 garage. The garage has a 2.1-meter height limit, and vehicles can't leave and re-enter under the same overnight parking arrangement. Gifu Castle's keep and museum are closed for renovation through late October 2027, although Gifu Park and other nearby attractions have separate access arrangements.
