What this station is useful for

Overview

For travel across eastern Tokyo, Kinshicho Station brings JR rapid and local services together with the Tokyo Metro Hanzomon Line. JR trains cover short trips toward Tokyo and Akihabara, while the subway runs directly to Oshiage, Otemachi, and Shibuya. The station is at the center of Tokyo-Kinshicho.

Lines and connections

The JR Sobu Line Rapid serves Kinshicho as JO22. Tokyo Station is about eight minutes away, and some trains continue through Tokyo toward Shinagawa and Yokohama. In the opposite direction, services run toward Chiba, with selected trains continuing farther depending on the timetable.

The JR Chuo-Sobu local line serves the station as JB22. Akihabara is about six minutes away, with Ochanomizu beyond it. These stopping trains handle shorter trips to stations skipped by the rapid service.

Kinshicho is Z13 on the Hanzomon Line. Oshiage is one stop away for Tokyo Skytree, while westbound trains continue directly to Otemachi, Aoyama-itchome, and Shibuya.

Airport access

Some JR Sobu Rapid trains continue to Narita Airport, but not every departure does, so check the current timetable. Haneda Airport requires a transfer. One practical rail route takes the Sobu Rapid Line to Shinagawa, followed by the Keikyu Line.

Tobu Hotel Levant Tokyo, about three minutes from the north side, has reservable limousine buses to both airports. The buses depart from the hotel, not the station.

Station area

JR's North Exit and Tokyo Metro Exit 3 lead toward Arcakit, Sumida Triphony Hall, and Tobu Hotel Levant Tokyo. Exit 4 is the better choice for Kinshi Park and Olinas.

On the south side, the station opens directly into the Termina shopping complex. Tokyo Metro Exits 1 and 2 serve the PARCO and Rakutenchi side of the district, where cinemas, restaurants, and shops cluster around the main streets.

What's nearby

Kinshi Park begins a few minutes north of the platforms, with play areas, sports facilities, and an open view toward Tokyo Skytree. Sumida Triphony Hall is on the same side of the station.

Tokyo Skytree Town is about 1.5 kilometers away. Take the Hanzomon Line when the tower is the main destination. Walking makes more sense when you want to include the surrounding streets and park in the outing.

Good to know

JR and Tokyo Metro have separate gates and platforms. Check the operator as well as the exit number, particularly when meeting someone or returning to a hotel on the opposite side of the tracks.

Kinshicho has no Shinkansen platforms. Transfer at Tokyo Station for the Tokaido and Tohoku-side high-speed lines, and allow enough time to travel between the underground Sobu platforms and the main Shinkansen concourses.
