Overview
Nagoya-Fushimi / Marunouchi covers a central business and cultural district between Nagoya Station and Sakae. In the southern part, Nagoya Fushimi Station brings the Higashiyama and Tsurumai subway lines together beneath streets lined with offices, hotels, restaurants, and theaters.
Fushimi is less shaped by large shopping complexes than Nagoya Station and less focused on nightlife than Sakae. Museums, performance venues, business hotels, and restaurants give it a quieter central character.
What the area is known for
Culture is the clearest visitor draw. In Shirakawa Park, the Nagoya City Science Museum and its 35-meter planetarium stand beside the Nagoya City Art Museum. Closer to Fushimi Station, Misonoza hosts Kabuki and other stage performances.
The northern side toward Marunouchi is more office-oriented. Touken World Nagoya Marunouchi adds a small sword museum near Marunouchi Station, while the Tsurumai Line connects the northern and southern parts of the district.
Main places
Shirakawa Park forms the main museum cluster. Many of the area's restaurants and hotels occupy the streets between the park, Fushimi Station, and Misonoza. Nagoya Kanko Hotel, two minutes from the subway, is a full-service hotel with a long local history.
Stations and access
Nagoya Fushimi Station is H09 on the Higashiyama Line and T07 on the Tsurumai Line. The Higashiyama Line reaches Nagoya Station in about three minutes and continues east to Sakae; the Tsurumai Line serves Marunouchi and Osu Kannon.
Farther north, Marunouchi Station also provides Sakura-dori Line service. Neither station has JR or Shinkansen platforms, so long-distance rail journeys require a subway connection or taxi to Nagoya Station.
Where it fits in a trip
The district balances central sightseeing with business travel. It's a convenient setting for visits to the science and art museums, Misonoza performances, meals in Fushimi, and subway trips to Nagoya Station or Sakae without staying in either busier district.
Good to know
Nagoya-Fushimi / Marunouchi spans more than one subway stop. Check whether your hotel is closer to Fushimi or Marunouchi before choosing an exit, especially with luggage. Airport and Shinkansen journeys require a transfer unless the hotel provides its own direct airport bus.
