Overview
Beneath the business and wholesale streets of eastern Semba, Sakaisuji-Hommachi connects the Chuo and Sakaisuji subway lines. The interchange opens direct routes across central Osaka without requiring a detour through Umeda or Namba.
Honmachi Station is one stop west on the Chuo Line, where passengers can change for the Midosuji and Yotsubashi lines. The distinction is worth remembering. Sakaisuji-Hommachi is closer to eastern Semba and the Sakaisuji corridor, while Honmachi is better connected for north-south trips through Umeda, Shinsaibashi, Namba, and Shin-Osaka. Both stations serve Osaka-Honmachi.
Lines and connections
On the Chuo Line, Sakaisuji-Hommachi is C17. Westbound trains run through Honmachi and Awaza toward Bentencho, Osakako, and Yumeshima. Eastbound services stop at Tanimachi 4-chome and Morinomiya on the Osaka Castle side before continuing toward Nagata, with some trains running beyond the Osaka Metro network.
The Sakaisuji Line uses station number K15. Southbound trains provide direct service to Nagahoribashi, Nippombashi, Ebisucho, and Tengachaya. Northbound trains run through Kitahama, Minamimorimachi, and Tenjimbashisuji 6-chome, with through services toward the Hankyu network.
Station area
The station extends beneath Chuo-dori and Sakaisuji, with exits spread across several Semba blocks. Exits 7 and 10 give the shortest approach to Miyako City Osaka Hommachi, about two minutes away on foot. These routes pass through Semba Center Building and aren't open around the clock, while other exits add a few minutes to the street-level walk.
Semba Center Building connects directly to the station. The kilometer-long complex runs west toward Honmachi, with shops on the upper levels and restaurants in the basements. It's handy for lunch, textiles, and everyday shopping, particularly in wet weather.
What's nearby
Office streets and Semba's wholesale roots shape the immediate neighborhood. Farther west near Honmachi, the covered Senba Shinsaibashisuji Shopping Street begins its southward route toward Shinsaibashi, passing retailers, restaurants, and service businesses along the way.
Miyako City Osaka Hommachi is south of Chuo-dori in Kitakyuhojimachi. From the station, the Sakaisuji Line also provides a direct ride to Nippombashi for Kuromon Market and Minami, while the Chuo Line runs toward Morinomiya for the Osaka Castle side of the city.
Good to know
Sakaisuji-Hommachi and Honmachi are separate stations. Use Sakaisuji-Hommachi for the Chuo and Sakaisuji lines, then change at Honmachi when the Midosuji Line provides the better route to Shin-Osaka, Umeda, Shinsaibashi, Namba, or Tennoji.
Because the exits cover several blocks, check which one is closest to your hotel or destination before leaving the paid area. Late at night, don't rely on exits reached through Semba Center Building.
