Overview
Okayama Station is the main rail hub for Okayama City and one of the key transfer points in western Honshu. It is useful for travelers arriving by Shinkansen, connecting toward Shikoku, heading to Kurashiki, using local Okayama lines, or staying near the station for easy luggage handling.
Lines And Platforms
Conventional-line platforms serve the Sanyo Line, Ako Line, Hakubi Line, Seto-Ohashi Line, Uno Line, Tsuyama Line, and Kibi Line. Shinkansen platforms handle Sanyo and through Tokaido-Sanyo-Kyushu services, including trains toward Shin-Osaka, Tokyo, Hiroshima, Hakata, and Kagoshima-Chuo.
Visitor Use
The station is practical for city sightseeing because central Okayama sights, malls, hotels, buses, and trams are close to the station area. For airport access, Okayama Momotaro Airport buses serve Okayama Station West Exit with a travel time of about 30 minutes. For hotel stays, Hotel Granvia Okayama is directly linked to the station.
