Mitsui Garden Hotel Okayama reopened on August 9, 2026, following a full renovation of its guest rooms, entrance, lobby, large communal bath, and restaurant. The work also reorganized the room inventory, reducing the total from 352 rooms in five categories to 297 rooms in four categories.
The number of rooms able to accommodate three guests has increased from eight to 51. The new inventory includes 118 Standard Double rooms measuring 14.2 square meters, 56 Standard Queen rooms at 17.1 square meters, and 72 Standard Twin rooms at 20 square meters. The 51 Superior Twin rooms measure 26.4 to 28.4 square meters and include a sofa bed for a third guest.
All rooms received new interiors, furniture, fixtures, and wet-area equipment. Art by Okayama-born artist Shino Hirata adds floral motifs to the guest floors, while the room signs incorporate designs based on denim associated with Okayama Prefecture.
The renovation follows a "Blooming" design concept inspired by the natural scenery and culture of Okayama. New plants and furnishings have been added to the lobby. Artwork there includes a peach blossom made by Atsushi Ozawa using iron collected in Okayama, including items formerly used at the hotel. An indigo-dyed noren work by Suguru Yamagishi is displayed in the elevator hall.
On the tenth floor, the men's and women's communal baths have each gained three washing stations, bringing the total from six to nine. The women's changing room has been enlarged and now includes a powder area. ReFa hair dryers are provided in both facilities, which also display artwork inspired by Kanba Falls. The number of laundry machines has doubled from three to six, and trouser presses have been added.
The first-floor GARDEN CAFE has a renewed interior and breakfast buffet. Breakfast is served from 6:30 to 10:00, with last entry at 9:30. The menu includes porchetta, a changing selection of breads and croissants, and Okayama dishes such as yellow chive rice porridge, ebimeshi, and mamakari. After breakfast, the space serves as a guest lounge from 13:00 to 22:00.
Mitsui Garden Hotel Okayama is a ten-story property at 1-7 Ekimotomachi, Kita Ward, Okayama City.
