Overview
For Kuromon Market, the National Bunraku Theatre, and east Dotonbori, Nippombashi Station is the main subway stop on the eastern side of Minami. It forms part of the wider Osaka-Namba district but is one Sennichimae Line stop east of Namba Station, with small hotels and restaurants clustered around the exits.
Two Osaka Metro lines meet here, and underground passages connect them with the separately named Kintetsu-Nippombashi Station. This interchange helps with trips across central Osaka and lets travelers begin a Nara day trip without first returning to Namba.
Lines and connections
The Sakaisuji Line uses station number K17. Northbound trains serve Nagahoribashi, Sakaisuji-Hommachi, and Kitahama, while southbound trains continue to Ebisucho and Tengachaya.
On the Sennichimae Line, Nippombashi is S17. Namba is the next stop west, and Tanimachi 9-chome is the next stop east. The route handles short east-west journeys across Minami and connects with other north-south corridors.
Kintetsu-Nippombashi is A02 on the Kintetsu Namba Line. Trains run west to Osaka-Namba and east toward Osaka-Uehommachi, Tsuruhashi, and Kintetsu-Nara. Some westbound services continue beyond Osaka-Namba onto the Hanshin network, but stopping patterns vary, so check the train type and destination.
Airport access
There is no direct airport train from Nippombashi. Journeys to Kansai Airport require a transfer to Nankai services, commonly at Tengachaya or within the wider Namba area.
Station area
Exits spread around the Nippombashi intersection and serve different parts of eastern Minami. Exit 10 is convenient for Kuromon Market, Exit 7 for the National Bunraku Theatre, and exits 2 and 6 for east Dotonbori and nearby hotels.
This is a busy commercial neighborhood rather than a self-contained rail complex. Food shops, restaurants, small hotels, and late-opening entertainment venues begin close to the exits, while Namba's larger stations and rail complexes are farther west.
What's nearby
Kuromon Market has roughly 150 shops selling seafood, produce, prepared food, and kitchen goods. The National Bunraku Theatre presents one of Japan's major traditional performing arts, while Dotonbori's canal and restaurant streets begin a short walk west.
Nipponbashi's electronics and pop-culture district extends farther south toward Den Den Town. Ebisucho Station may be closer to its southern end, so check your exact destination before leaving the subway.
Good to know
The names differ. Railway signs use Nippombashi, while the surrounding district and local street addresses commonly use Nipponbashi. Osaka Metro Nippombashi and Kintetsu-Nippombashi are connected for transfers, but they are operated separately and have different service rules.
