Overview
New Chitose Airport Station is the JR rail stop built into the airport terminal complex. It serves passengers heading between flights, terminal hotels, airport shopping and dining, and onward rail journeys toward Sapporo and other parts of Hokkaido.
Lines and connections
The station is served by JR Hokkaido airport trains on the airport branch of the Chitose Line. Services connect New Chitose Airport with Sapporo and Otaru.
The fastest trains to Sapporo take 33 minutes, with rapid and semi-rapid services also running. Some trains continue directly toward Otaru. For many other destinations in Hokkaido, travelers transfer along the way, most often at Sapporo or Minami-Chitose depending on the route.
Airport access
JR New Chitose Airport Station is on B1F of the terminal building. From the platforms, travelers can continue through the airport to the domestic and international terminal areas, airline counters, bus stops, shops, restaurants, hotels, and passenger services.
For Portom International Hokkaido, the walk from the station takes about 10 minutes via the airport connecting path. The route leads toward the International Terminal side, so it is worth allowing time for the walk through the terminal even though the hotel is within the airport complex.
Station area
This is an airport rail stop, not a neighborhood station. The most relevant services are inside the terminal, including restaurants, shops, information counters, coin lockers and baggage services, rental-car and bus connections, hotels, and onsen facilities.
Good to know
Use this station for airport rail access, terminal hotels, and Sapporo transfers before or after a flight. If your hotel is elsewhere in Chitose, check whether New Chitose Airport Station, Minami-Chitose Station, or another local stop is the better rail reference.
