Overview
Portom International Hokkaido is a luxury airport hotel directly connected to the International Terminal at New Chitose Airport. It is designed for travelers who want the convenience of staying at the terminal with the comfort, dining, and atmosphere of a full-service hotel.
The location is especially helpful for early departures, late arrivals, winter-weather buffers, or itineraries where staying at the airport is simpler than transferring to or from Sapporo. New Chitose Airport Station is the main rail reference point for reaching the hotel.
Rooms
Guest rooms begin with the 43-square-meter Superior Room and extend to the 63-square-meter Junior Suite and larger themed suites. Suite categories include the Portom Suite, Zen Suite, Rimpa Suite, and Sukiya Suite, with the Sukiya Suite listed at 250 square meters.
The rooms emphasize Japanese art and design rather than the plain, functional style often associated with airport hotels. All rooms are non-smoking, and there is a smoking booth on the 4th floor.
Facilities
The hotel has an onsen, esthetic and spa facilities, and a gym on the 4th floor. The onsen and gym are reserved for hotel guests, while the spa adds a broader wellness element to a stay at the airport.
Portom International Hokkaido also includes art and cultural spaces such as a tea ceremony house, guest salon, gallery, and shop. These areas give the hotel a quieter, more reflective feel for travelers spending time before or after a flight.
Dining
Dining is one of the hotel's defining features. Restaurants and lounges include Shimogamo-Saryo Kitano Hanare for Japanese cuisine, Tateru Yoshino Portom International Hokkaido for French dining, The Bar, The Cigar Bar, and Cafe Sky Library.
Because the hotel is within the airport, guests can also use the terminal's broader dining and shopping options when opening hours and flight schedules allow.
Location and transport
Portom International Hokkaido is on the 4th floor of New Chitose Airport's International Terminal Building. The walk from JR New Chitose Airport Station takes about 10 minutes via the connecting path, while the route from the Domestic Terminal Building takes about 12 minutes.
This is an indoor airport-terminal walk rather than a curbside shuttle transfer. With luggage, follow signs from the JR station toward the International Terminal and the hotel's 4th-floor reception.
Airport access
JR airport trains connect New Chitose Airport with Sapporo in as little as 33 minutes, with frequent Airport services during the day and some direct trains toward Otaru. For destinations beyond Sapporo and Otaru, Minami-Chitose and Sapporo are the main transfer points.
The hotel works best when your next step is a flight, an airport train to Sapporo, or a short rest within the terminal area. It is less convenient as a base for several nights focused on Sapporo dining and nightlife.
Why stay here
Choose Portom International Hokkaido if you want to sleep inside New Chitose Airport without giving up a high-end room, an onsen, spa, gym, polished dining, and a calmer international-terminal setting. It is a strong fit for early flights, late arrivals, special-occasion airport overnights, and travelers who want a smoother arrival or departure day.
Good to know
The hotel is in the International Terminal, while rail arrivals and much of the airport's everyday activity are on the domestic-terminal side. Allow time for the indoor walk between JR New Chitose Airport Station, domestic-terminal facilities, and the hotel. For drivers, use airport parking A or B unless a suite reservation includes separate parking guidance.
