Overview
On Hiroshima-Peace Boulevard, Fukuro-machi Station serves the Nakamachi hotels, Fukuromachi restaurants, and the eastern approach to Peace Memorial Park. ANA Crowne Plaza Hiroshima is about one minute away.
It isn't a railway station. This compact, street-level Hiroshima Electric Railway stop handles local streetcars; Shinkansen services, JR trains, and airport buses use separate hubs elsewhere in the city.
Lines and connections
Fukuro-machi is stop U02 on the Ujina Line. Route 1 runs directly from Hiroshima Station and continues south toward Hiroshima Port, giving hotel guests a straightforward tram journey after arriving by Shinkansen.
Routes 3 and 7 turn north through Hondori before continuing toward western Hiroshima or Yokogawa. Southbound services follow the Ujina corridor toward city offices, university and hospital stops, and Hiroshima Port. The Loop Line also serves Fukuro-machi, so check the route number and destination rather than boarding by direction alone.
Airport access
Fukuro-machi has no airport train or limousine-bus stop. Hiroshima Airport buses use Hiroshima Bus Center, about a 12-minute walk from ANA Crowne Plaza Hiroshima. With heavy luggage, a local bus or taxi may be easier.
That separation matters on departure day. Allow time to reach the bus center and find the correct platform instead of treating the streetcar stop as an airport connection.
Station area
The platforms stand on the central stretch of Peace Boulevard, between the Nakamachi hotel blocks and Otemachi. The tree-lined avenue feels more open than the narrow dining streets north of the stop.
Fukuromachi's cafes, bars, and restaurants begin beyond the boulevard and continue toward Hondori. Offices and hotels keep the area active during the day, while the streets become livelier toward the north in the evening.
What's nearby
Peace Memorial Park is one of the main reasons visitors use this stop. The park, museum, and Atomic Bomb Dome are to the west, while the Former Bank of Japan Hiroshima Branch and Rai Sanyo Historic Site Museum are closer to the station.
The stop also serves the full-service hotels along Peace Boulevard. Their position between the park and downtown dining gives Fukuro-machi greater visitor relevance than its small platform layout might suggest.
Good to know
The name Fukuro-machi Station refers to a street-level tram stop, not a JR station or the underground Astram Line stop at Hondori. Its platforms are exposed to the weather, and several routes share the same corridor. Check both the number and destination before boarding.
