Why stay here

Overview

Tokyo-Oshiage is a good choice if you want Tokyo Skytree, Tokyo Solamachi, and east Tokyo rail connections close by, rather than a stay centered on the city's main business or nightlife districts. The area covers the blocks in Sumida Ward around Oshiage Station, Tokyo Skytree Town, and Tokyo Solamachi, with Asakusa close enough to pair with Oshiage in the same day.

What the area is known for

The main landmark is Tokyo Skytree, whose observation decks and visitor facilities draw most first-time visitors to the neighborhood. Around its base, Tokyo Solamachi adds a large shopping and dining complex, making the area convenient for casual meals, souvenir browsing, and rainy-day time without straying far from the station.

Main places

Tokyo Skytree Town and Solamachi are the clearest visitor anchors. The surrounding streets are more local and everyday in feel, with hotels, apartment-style lodging, restaurants, convenience stores, and routes leading toward the Sumida River side of eastern Tokyo.

Stations and access

Oshiage Station is the main rail hub for the area. Tokyo Solamachi's access information lists the Tobu Skytree Line, Hanzomon Line, Keisei Line, and Toei Asakusa Line at Oshiage Station, with exits B3 and A2 serving the Skytree Town side. Tokyo Skytree Station is a separate nearby stop on the Tobu Skytree Line on the other side of the complex.

Where it fits in a trip

Stay in Oshiage if Tokyo Skytree, Solamachi, Asakusa, and eastern Tokyo are a major part of your plans. It can also work well for groups or longer stays that benefit from apartment-style hotel layouts. If most of your itinerary is in Shinjuku, Shibuya, Ginza, or around frequent Shinkansen departures, a more central or terminal-side area may reduce travel time.

Good to know

Oshiage Station and Tokyo Skytree Station are close to each other, but they are not the same stop. Check the rail operator and exit before choosing a meeting point or planning a luggage route, especially when moving between the station, Solamachi, and nearby hotels.
