Overview
Dai-ichi Hotel Ryogoku connects directly to the Toei Oedo Line's A1 exit and is about five minutes on foot from the Kokugikan sumo arena. The hotel is located in Tokyo-Ryogoku, with museums nearby and direct subway trains to Roppongi.
Rooms
Moderate Doubles measure 19.2 or 21.3 square metres, while Moderate Twins have separate beds and measure 19.2 or 24 square metres. The 26.8-square-metre Triple accommodates three people by adding an extra bed to a twin layout. Compare categories carefully, since a twin isn't always larger than a double.
Premium rooms occupy the 23rd and 24th floors. Some face Tokyo Skytree, while others overlook the river, so select a category with the outlook you prefer. Both smoking and non-smoking rooms are available.
Facilities
Overnight guests can use a free shuttle to Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea. Reserve your seat after completing the room reservation. Seats are limited, and the bus follows a fixed timetable, so check both the outward and return services before planning a park day.
A ground-floor convenience store is handy for snacks and essentials. There's no public bath or coin laundry, though reception can direct longer-stay guests to a nearby laundry.
Dining
The Japanese and Western breakfast buffet is usually served from 7am to 9:30am on the 25th floor. Chanko hotpot, closely associated with sumo wrestlers, is among the dishes. Confirm the venue at check-in because it can change.
Sakura serves Japanese meals on the 25th floor, while ground-floor Azalea provides cafe service and Western dishes. Check restaurant closing days before planning dinner at the hotel. Room service isn't available.
Location and transport
The direct connection at Ryogoku Station serves the Toei Oedo Line, not the JR platforms. Both the East and West exits of JR Ryogoku are about eight minutes away on foot.
JR Chuo-Sobu local trains run directly to Akihabara. For Tokyo Station and the Shinkansen, change there to a Yamanote or Keihin-Tohoku train.
Airport access
From Haneda Airport, take a Keikyu train continuing onto the Toei Asakusa Line to Daimon, then change to the Oedo Line for Ryogoku. Check the train's destination before boarding.
From Narita Airport, take the Keisei Skyliner to Nippori, continue on the Yamanote Line to Akihabara, then transfer to a Chuo-Sobu local train for Ryogoku. This route arrives at the JR station, leaving an eight-minute walk to the hotel.
Why stay here
The short walk from Kokugikan is convenient after an event, while the Oedo Line provides direct subway travel to other parts of Tokyo. The Disney shuttle also lets you combine a city stay with a park visit, provided its fixed timetable works for your plans.
Nearby, the Edo-Tokyo Museum explores the city's history, and the Sumida Hokusai Museum focuses on the artist's work and connection to the district. Between museum visits, you can try chanko hotpot at a neighborhood restaurant.
Good to know
Check-in begins at 2pm and checkout is at 11am unless your reservation specifies different times. Reception can store luggage before check-in and after checkout, but bags left after checkout must be collected that day.
