Overview
Otaru Station is the main rail gateway for central Otaru. It is served by JR Hokkaido's Hakodate Main Line and is numbered S15 on the JR Hokkaido route map.

Location and access
The station stands above the central sightseeing area. From the station, visitors can walk downhill toward the old Temiya Line, historic stone buildings, and Otaru Canal.
Why use this station
Use Otaru Station for most central Otaru trips, especially when arriving from Sapporo by train or staying near the station. It is the most practical rail stop for hotel access, luggage handling, and a walking route into the canal area.
