Overview
Higobashi Station's Exit 4 leads directly into Nakanoshima Festival City, beside Festival Hall and the central stretch of Osaka-Nakanoshima. The station serves concerts, offices, hotels, and museums on the south side of the island.
Watanabebashi Station serves the same complex on the Keihan Nakanoshima Line. Use Higobashi for Osaka Metro routes from Nishi-Umeda, Honmachi, or Namba; Watanabebashi handles journeys on the Keihan network.
Lines and connections
Higobashi is Y12 on the Osaka Metro Yotsubashi Line. Northbound trains reach Nishi-Umeda in one stop. Southbound services run through Honmachi Station, Yotsubashi, and Namba before continuing toward Suminoekoen.
The nearby Keihan connection is Watanabebashi Station. Higobashi Exit 4 and Watanabebashi Exit 12 both lead directly into Festival City. The stations, however, belong to separate networks.
Station area
Higobashi is just south of the Tosabori River, with Nakanoshima across the bridge and the office streets of Edobori to the south. Exit 4 is the clearest choice for Festival Hall, Watanabebashi Station, and Festival City. Exit 3 points toward the art museums farther west, while Exit 7 serves the Utsubo Park direction.
A step-free route runs from the platforms through the north gate to an elevator inside Festival City. If you need a particular elevator, check the current Osaka Metro station map because several street exits use different buildings.
What's nearby
Festival Hall is directly connected at Exit 4, and Festival Plaza adds restaurants and shops within the same complex. Farther west, the National Museum of Art, Osaka is about ten minutes on foot from Higobashi Exit 3. Watanabebashi offers the shorter approach at about five minutes.
Conrad Osaka occupies the upper floors of Nakanoshima Festival Tower West. The hotel is directly connected to Watanabebashi Station, while guests arriving by Osaka Metro can approach through the linked Festival City complex from Higobashi.
Good to know
Higobashi isn't a major interchange. It has one Osaka Metro line, while Keihan journeys use the separate Watanabebashi Station nearby. Confirm both the station name and exit before meeting someone or following hotel directions.
For the eastern end of Nakanoshima, including the Central Public Hall and Nakanoshima Park, Yodoyabashi or Naniwabashi is usually closer. Higobashi is the more relevant stop for Festival City and the cultural venues around the middle of the island.
