Overview
Two local stops south of Kyoto Station, the streets around Kintetsu Jujo Station form a small stay area in southern Kyoto. Most visitors come here because their room or appointment is nearby, or because they are driving. It isn't a major sightseeing district.
Trips beginning at Kyoto Station require a short local train or taxi ride. Drivers, however, are closer to the Kyoto Minami and Kamitoba interchanges, while Toji is within walking distance of the station-side hotel.
What the area is known for
Kyoto Plaza Hotel Kintetsu Jujo is about five minutes on foot from the station. Both nearby interchanges are also about five minutes away by car, and parking at the hotel can be reserved in advance.
The neighborhood doesn't have the concentration of restaurants, shops, and attractions found around Kyoto Station or downtown. Its appeal is narrower: a local Kintetsu stop, road connections, and nearby Toji.
Main places
Toji is the clearest nearby landmark. Its five-story pagoda is a Kyoto landmark, and the Kobo-ichi flea market takes place on the 21st of each month. The temple is about a 12-minute walk from Kyoto Plaza Hotel Kintetsu Jujo.
Toji Station, one stop closer to Kyoto Station, is the nearest Kintetsu stop for the temple. If Toji is your only destination, get off there. Kintetsu Jujo comes into the plan when your room is farther south.
Stations and access
Kintetsu Jujo, numbered B03, is served by local trains on the Kintetsu Kyoto Line. Kyoto Station is two stops away via Toji, with a journey of about three minutes. Kyoto Station is where travelers change for the Shinkansen and Haruka airport trains. JR, subway, and bus services handle most onward trips across the city.
Local trains also run south toward Takeda and stations farther along the Kintetsu network. Express and limited express services don't stop at Kintetsu Jujo, so check the train type before boarding.
Where it fits in a trip
A room near Kintetsu Jujo, arrival by car, or plans in southern Kyoto are the clearest reasons to stay here. Kyoto Station remains close, but every Shinkansen or airport-rail journey includes an extra local leg.
For a first or final night shaped around an early train, heavy luggage, or direct Haruka access, Kyoto Station Area removes that transfer. The extra local leg is worthwhile when your room, Toji walk, or road route is already in this part of southern Kyoto.
Good to know
Kintetsu Jujo Station and Jujo Station on the Kyoto Municipal Subway are separate stops and don't form an interchange. Check the operator and station number in route apps: Kintetsu Jujo is B03, while the subway station is K13.
