Overview
A pedestrian deck connects Sakuragicho Station's South Gate East Exit to Yokohama Sakuragicho Washington Hotel in about one minute. Bashamichi Station is about three minutes away in the other direction, adding Minatomirai Line trains for the Red Brick Warehouse, Yokohama, and central Tokyo.
The hotel occupies the upper section of the Cross Gate complex at the southern edge of Yokohama-Minatomirai. Its 553 rooms are above the complex's commercial floors, while the fifth-floor lobby and Bayside restaurant face the waterfront. It is a large, transport-focused city hotel with both compact rooms and more spacious family layouts.
Rooms
Standard singles and doubles measure 14 square metres, while casual twins provide 16 square metres. Superior twins expand to 20 square metres, and 28-square-metre family rooms can accommodate three or four guests. Universal twins use the same larger footprint.
Compact categories are best suited to solo trips, couples, and short stays spent mainly outside. Families and travelers carrying more luggage should compare the larger twin and family layouts rather than assume every room can handle several open suitcases.
The view is another booking decision. Some double, twin, and women-only single categories face Minato Mirai and its night skyline, while others look inland. Check the exact category if a waterfront outlook matters.
Facilities
Guest facilities cover the everyday needs of a busy city stay. Two laundry rooms on the ninth floor, lobby lockers for arrival and departure days, microwaves on selected floors, and free Wi-Fi support both short visits and longer trips. Three conference rooms add a clear business function.
Cross Gate has a 24-hour convenience store and a mix of shops and restaurants below the hotel. All guest rooms, the lobby, and the restaurant are non-smoking, with a designated smoking booth near the Bayside entrance on the fifth floor. There is no dedicated hotel parking, and the small shared Cross Gate lot operates on a first-come, first-served basis.
Dining
Dining & Bar Bayside occupies the fifth floor, with broad views toward Minato Mirai. Breakfast is a Japanese and Western buffet, while lunch also follows a buffet format with seasonal themes.
Dinner requires more planning. Evening service is often reserved for groups, banquets, or limited-date events rather than operating as a standard walk-in dinner every night. Cross Gate and the streets around Sakuragicho provide alternatives when the restaurant isn't serving individual dinner guests.
Location and transport
The hotel is about one minute from Sakuragicho Station's South Gate East Exit. JR Keihin-Tohoku and Negishi services connect through Yokohama, Kannai, and Ishikawacho, while the separate Blue Line platforms provide a direct subway route to Shin-Yokohama for Tokaido Shinkansen departures.
Bashamichi Station's Exit 1b is about three minutes away. Minatomirai Line trains run west through Yokohama and often continue onto the Tokyu Toyoko Line toward Shibuya. Eastbound services call at Nihon-odori and Motomachi-Chukagai. With both stations nearby, guests can choose the network that best matches each trip.
Airport access
Neither nearby station has a direct airport train. From Haneda Airport, Keikyu services run to Yokohama, followed by a short JR ride to Sakuragicho. The hotel estimates about 40 minutes for this route.
From Narita Airport, the published route uses the Narita Express to Yokohama and then JR to Sakuragicho, with an estimated journey of 110 to 120 minutes. Airport buses to Yokohama are another option, but they still leave a local train or taxi leg to the hotel. There is no hotel shuttle.
Why stay here
One-minute JR access and a three-minute walk to the Minatomirai Line simplify trips between Yokohama's waterfront, older port streets, and connections through Yokohama Station. Bay-facing rooms add skyline views, while the family categories accommodate groups that would find the standard rooms too tight.
Kishamichi begins near Sakuragicho and crosses toward World Porters and the Red Brick Warehouse. In the other direction, the older streets around Bashamichi and Noge bring smaller restaurants and bars into the same stay. Few locations connect these different sides of central Yokohama so neatly.
Good to know
The quickest route from JR Sakuragicho uses the South Gate East Exit and pedestrian deck to the second-floor entrance. The Blue Line concourse is separate, and Bashamichi is a different station on the Minatomirai Line, so check the operator before following directions from a route app.
Check-in begins at 2:00 PM, and checkout is by 10:00 AM. Room size and outlook vary considerably by category, and bay views aren't standard. Drivers should plan around the small shared Cross Gate parking lot rather than expect a large hotel garage.
