Overview
JR Inn Chitose is located beside Chitose Station, while the train ride from New Chitose Airport to central Chitose takes about 10 minutes. That gives guests a town setting without a long transfer on flight days.
Rapid trains reach Sapporo in about 30 minutes, so this isn't only an airport overnight. The hotel can also support a short Hokkaido stopover or a first night before continuing north. The airport isn't within walking distance.
Rooms
Five main room categories range from 15-square-meter singles to 31-square-meter twin rooms. Economy and Standard Singles have the same floor area but different bed widths, while the 19-square-meter Standard Twin is the compact two-bed option.
The 31-square-meter Large Twin accommodates up to four guests, and a Universal Twin has the same floor area. Room sizes vary considerably, so couples with large suitcases and groups should compare layouts rather than choose by price alone.
Facilities
The second-floor public bath opens from 3:00 PM to 1:00 AM and again from 5:00 AM to 10:00 AM. There's time for a soak after a late arrival or before a morning departure.
The lounge keeps the same hours, with complimentary coffee and tea and more than 700 books. A first-floor pillow corner has about 10 pillow types, subject to availability. Coin laundry is on the second floor, while free parking beside the hotel is allocated without reservations on a first-come basis.
Dining
Breakfast is served from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the directly accessible Yayoi Ken, with last entry at 9:30 AM. Guests choose from five Japanese- and Western-style set meals rather than a buffet.
The hotel doesn't operate a dinner restaurant. For later meals, guests can use Yayoi Ken or other restaurants around central Chitose.
Location and transport
In the Chitose Station Area, JR platforms are beside the hotel and restaurants are spread through central Chitose. It's a different arrangement from staying inside the airport complex, where airline counters, airport shopping, and airport hotels are under one roof.
Chitose Station is on the JR route between New Chitose Airport and Sapporo. The short airport journey serves flight connections, while rapid trains toward Sapporo allow for an evening in the city or onward rail travel the next day.
Airport access
JR trains run directly from Chitose Station to New Chitose Airport Station in about 10 minutes. From the airport station, travelers continue through the terminal building to the domestic or international airline counters.
This is a one-train airport transfer, not a hotel-door shuttle or an indoor walk to check-in. Check the current timetable for a very early departure or late arrival, and allow time to get from the airport rail station to the correct terminal area.
Why stay here
A first or last night here keeps the airport one short train ride away while adding a public bath, lounge, and a broader room choice than a bare overnight stop. It also means you don't have to take every suitcase into central Sapporo when the flight schedule is the main concern.
If the flight schedule leaves a few free hours, central Chitose has station-area restaurants and the Salmon Hometown Chitose Aquarium. The aquarium's underwater window looks directly into the Chitose River.
Good to know
JR Inn Chitose is beside Chitose Station, but the flight counters remain at New Chitose Airport and require a train or road transfer. Chitose Station and New Chitose Airport Station are separate stops.
Check-in begins at 3:00 PM, and checkout is at 10:00 AM. The hotel can hold luggage only on the day of check-in and the day of checkout.
