Overview

JR-East Hotel Mets Koenji is about a one-minute walk from Koenji Station, placing guests right by the JR stop that anchors the neighborhood. It is a good fit for travelers who want a Suginami stay with quick access toward Shinjuku, a lively local food and music scene, and straightforward hotel services for a simple Tokyo trip.

This is not a resort or a full-service luxury hotel. Its appeal is the easy station access, compact but functional rooms, breakfast in the building, and a location that makes Koenji's bars, restaurants, shopping streets, and live music venues part of the stay. The broader Tokyo-Koenji area suits visitors who prefer a neighborhood atmosphere outside the largest hubs.

Rooms

Room types include single, Biz style single, twin, deluxe twin, and universal twin layouts. Published sizes range from 15 square meters for single rooms to 34 square meters for deluxe twins, with the universal twin listed at 30 square meters.

The rooms work best for solo travelers, couples, business guests, and small groups who plan to spend most of the day out in Tokyo. Biz style single rooms add work-friendly items such as a massage cushion, laptop stand, USB hub extension cord, desk light, and simple stationery. Deluxe twins provide more space and a bathroom with a separate washing area.

Facilities

Facilities are geared toward everyday convenience. The hotel has self check-in machines with remote reception support, luggage storage on check-in day and until midnight after check-out, Wi-Fi, free drinks, a lobby amenity station, coin laundry, vending machines, an ice machine, a microwave, and a 24-hour smoking booth. Guest rooms are non-smoking.

Denny's and Aoyama Flower Market are also in the building. Rintosull operates by reservation and is regularly closed on Sundays. For most guests, the key conveniences are the station-side location and the practical hotel services.

Dining

Breakfast is served at Denny's on the second floor from 6:00 to 11:00. Guests choose either a Japanese or Western morning set, and the breakfast coupon can also be used toward other meals during the restaurant's business hours.

Because Denny's stays open beyond breakfast, the building has a simple all-day dining option. Around the station, Koenji adds plenty of casual restaurants and bars, which is part of the neighborhood's appeal.

Location and transport

The hotel is one minute on foot from JR Koenji Station. By train, Koenji is about 9 minutes from Shinjuku on the JR Sobu Line, about 21 minutes from Tokyo Station on the JR Chuo Line, and about 30 minutes from Shinagawa using the JR Chuo and Yamanote lines.

This makes the hotel convenient for west-side Tokyo plans and Chuo Line travel. It is less direct for subway-heavy itineraries, airport trains, or Shinkansen departures, where transfers through larger stations are usually needed.

Airport access

Airport access is by rail rather than hotel-door service. Haneda Airport is about 60 minutes away via the Keikyu Main Line, JR Yamanote Line, and JR Chuo Line. Narita International Airport is about 90 minutes away via the Keisei Skyliner, JR Yamanote Line, and JR Chuo Line.

Those routes are manageable, but they are not door to door. If you are traveling with heavy luggage, allow extra time for transfers between railway operators and JR lines.

Why stay here

Stay here if you want Koenji's neighborhood feel with the station almost at the door. The hotel is strongest for travelers who value local restaurants, bars, vintage shopping, live music, and Chuo Line access more than a large terminal hotel or direct airport service.

For a Tokyo trip focused on Shinjuku and the city's west-side neighborhoods, it can be a calmer alternative to staying in the busiest hubs. For Shinkansen departures, late-night airport arrivals, or luxury-hotel facilities, a more central or full-service hotel may be a better choice.

Good to know

The hotel does not list dedicated guest parking, so drivers should use nearby coin parking. Check-in starts at 15:00, and check-out is until 11:00.
