A three-minute walk from Matsumoto Station's Castle Exit, also signed as the East Exit, brings guests to Toyoko Inn Matsumoto-eki Higashi-guchi. Limited express trains, local services, city buses, and mountain connections are all close by, while downtown Matsumoto remains within easy reach.
The setup is simple. Everyday facilities and a free morning buffet suit early departures, late arrivals from Shinjuku or Nagoya, and itineraries that continue toward Kamikochi.

The paid surface car park has 17 spaces, allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Drivers shouldn't assume a space will be available at busy times.
Dining
A free breakfast buffet is served from 6:30 to 9:00, removing one piece of planning before an early sightseeing or transfer day.
For lunch and dinner, the surrounding streets provide more choice. Downtown cafes, shops, and restaurants continue east toward Nakamachi Street and Nawate Street.
Location and transport
Matsumoto Station receives the Limited Express Azusa from Shinjuku and the Limited Express Shinano from Nagoya. Local trains and the Alpico Kamikochi Line also depart from the station, which helps when Matsumoto forms part of a wider rail itinerary.
Bus departure points differ. Town Sneaker services for Matsumoto Castle and the city museum leave from the station forecourt, while express and mountain buses use Matsumoto Bus Terminal, about two minutes away on foot. The most frequent route to Kamikochi combines the Kamikochi Line to Shin-Shimashima with a reserved bus, while a limited number of direct buses leave the bus terminal.
Airport access
A shuttle bus connects Shinshu Matsumoto Airport with the city in around 30 minutes. There is no rail link or hotel-door shuttle, so check the timetable before planning a tight airport connection.
Why stay here
The three-minute station walk reduces luggage hauling on limited express and bus days. It matters most when a trip combines castle-town sightseeing with Kamikochi, Norikura, or another mountain stop.
Downtown sights aren't at the hotel door, but the Castle Exit points in the right direction. Matsumoto Castle, Nawate Street, and Nakamachi Street form a natural sightseeing route, while the Town Sneaker offers an alternative to walking to the castle and city museum.
Good to know
The hotel is close to Matsumoto Station but isn't directly connected. Another Toyoko Inn, Matsumoto Ekimae Hommachi, operates farther into central Matsumoto, so confirm the East Exit name before following directions.
Luggage storage is available before check-in, but not after checkout. If you're sightseeing after leaving the room, plan to use nearby lockers or another storage service.
