Overview
High above Nagoya-Sakae, The Royal Park Hotel Iconic Nagoya occupies the upper floors of Chunichi Building. Reception is on the 24th floor, with guest rooms from the 25th to the 32nd floor. City views shape much of the experience, appearing in corner rooms, the guest sauna, lounges and restaurants.
A direct underground connection to Nagoya Sakae Station makes arrival easier in bad weather or with luggage. It also keeps Sakae's department stores, restaurants, nightlife and parks close by.
Rooms
Standard-floor rooms begin at about 28.5 square meters. Superior twin and king rooms are the main choices, while wider twins and corner rooms add space or windows on two sides. Some superior twins accommodate a third guest on a sofa bed, and the baseball-themed Dragons Room sleeps up to four. An accessible twin is also available.
Premium rooms on the 32nd floor are considerably larger, beginning at 57.6 square meters, while suites reach 166.5 square meters. The design draws on Chubu crafts and regional history without overlooking everyday comfort. All rooms are non-smoking, bathrooms have separate washing areas, and standard equipment includes free Wi-Fi, an air purifier and a humidifier.
Facilities
The guest-only sauna on the 25th floor combines a dry sauna, cold bath, showers and a rest area overlooking the city. It's a sauna rather than a communal hot-spring bath. Access is limited to guests aged 12 and over, excluding elementary-school students.
The 26th-floor gym is free for hotel guests and open around the clock. Laundry machines are on the same floor, while ice and vending machines are one floor below. These facilities help with a longer stay without feeling excessive for a short weekend.
Dining
The 7th Terrace serves breakfast, followed by lunch, cafe, dinner and bar service. Its dining room and rooftop terrace look across Sakae and Hisaya-odori, providing one of the clearest places outside the rooms to enjoy the skyline.
Other choices include Chinese and sushi restaurants, a bar lounge and a tea lounge. There's enough variety for an evening at the hotel, while the surrounding streets and department stores provide many more casual options within a short walk.
Location and transport
The underground route connects Chunichi Building with Sakae Station on the Higashiyama and Meijo subway lines, as well as neighboring Sakaemachi Station on the Meitetsu Seto Line. The building connection is open from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Outside those hours, use Sakae Station Exit 13.
Nagoya Station is two stops away on the Higashiyama Line. The Tokaido Shinkansen and regional JR services remain manageable from here, but they aren't in the same station complex. Allow time for the subway ride and the walk between operators when an early departure matters.
Airport access
From Chubu Centrair International Airport, Meitetsu's fastest airport trains take about 30 minutes to Nagoya Station. The onward trip to Sakae uses the Higashiyama Line, so reaching the hotel by rail requires a change.
For Nagoya Airport at Komaki, the direct bus runs to Midland Square at Nagoya Station, followed by a local connection to Sakae. Travelers who want the simplest possible airport transfer may prefer the Nagoya Station area; this location favors time spent downtown instead.
Why stay here
The indoor station connection simplifies luggage-heavy arrivals, while comfortably sized rooms, high-floor views, varied dining and wellness facilities make time at the hotel worthwhile. It feels more substantial than a straightforward business hotel.
Sakae is one of Nagoya's main shopping and entertainment districts. Hisaya-odori Park, Chubu Electric Power MIRAI TOWER and Oasis 21 are nearby, while the Meijo Line runs directly toward Nagoya Castle and Kanayama.
Good to know
Check-in begins at 3:00 PM, and check-out is at 11:00 AM. All guest rooms are non-smoking, with a smoking room on the 24th floor. Public parking is available in the Chunichi Building basement, but spaces can't be reserved in advance.
The entrance is at street level, while reception is on the 24th floor. If you arrive after the underground connection closes, follow signs for Exit 13 rather than expecting the indoor building route to remain open overnight.
