Overview
Following a 2024 renovation, Super Hotel Ikebukuro West Natural Hot Spring now has 201 non-smoking rooms, a new wing, group-friendly layouts, and separate hot-spring baths for men and women. The hotel is beside Exit C1b on the west side of Ikebukuro Station. From the Echika underground area, an elevator rises next to the entrance, so guests can arrive without an uncovered street walk.
It's still a straightforward budget stay. Breakfast and evening drinks are included, but the rooms remain compact and service is simpler than at a full-service hotel.
Rooms
The room lineup covers standard and extra rooms in the original and newer wings, plus twins, family rooms, connecting layouts, and accommodation on a women-only floor. Connecting rooms join two extra rooms internally and sleep up to four guests.
Most layouts are compact. Solo guests and couples can focus on the bed and desk setup, while families and small groups have more options than the earlier room lineup provided. Choose by layout, not only by price.
Facilities
Natural hot-spring water is transported from Yugawara, then heated and circulated through separate baths for men and women. The baths are open from 3:00 PM until 9:30 AM the following morning, allowing for a soak after a late return or before checkout.
The women's bath is on the same floor as the women-only rooms. Coin laundry and a choice of pillows are the other facilities most likely to help during a multi-night stay.
Dining
The complimentary buffet breakfast combines baked bread and salads with changing Japanese and Western dishes. It's served from 6:30 AM to 9:00 AM on weekdays and until 9:30 AM on weekends and public holidays.
From 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, the lounge becomes a welcome bar with complimentary alcoholic and soft drinks, though serving times can change. Guests may bring their own food into the lounge. There isn't a full-service restaurant in the hotel.
Location and transport
Exit C1b is the simplest approach because its elevator rises beside the hotel. The Tokyo Metro Fukutoshin Line side is about one minute away, while JR Ikebukuro is listed at roughly three minutes on foot. Reaching the Tobu, Seibu, Marunouchi, and Yurakucho services may take longer through the large station complex.
From Ikebukuro, direct routes run to Shinjuku, Shibuya, central Tokyo, and destinations along the Tobu Tojo and Seibu Ikebukuro lines. The west-side location is especially convenient for plans around Ikebukuro Nishiguchi Park and Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre.
Airport access
Haneda and Narita airports are reached through the wider Ikebukuro area by rail or airport limousine bus rather than a hotel-door shuttle. The exact train route or bus stop matters when you're carrying luggage, so check the current timetable and final approach before traveling.
Why stay here
Budget pricing, overnight access to the hot-spring baths, and a nearly weather-protected subway approach add more value than a basic room-only stay. The tradeoff is compact rooms and no full-service dining.
On the west side, Ikebukuro Nishiguchi Park, the Global Ring Theater, and Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre bring performances and events close to the hotel. Sunshine City and the main pop-culture shopping streets are east of the station, so getting there requires crossing the large rail complex.
Good to know
The entrance is next to the C1b elevator, but the hotel isn't directly connected to the ticket gates. Use C1b when possible. Arrivals on JR, Tobu, or Seibu may face a longer walk through the station before reaching the underground exit.
