Overview
Shibuya Excel Hotel Tokyu occupies the East building of Shibuya Mark City, beside the Scramble Crossing and directly connected to Shibuya Station. The indoor link to JR and Keio trains is especially helpful with luggage or shopping bags, while Shibuya's restaurants and nightlife are close enough to explore on foot.
Check-in is on the fifth floor, with 408 guest rooms spread across floors 7 to 24. Options include rooms overlooking the crossing and layouts where three or four guests can stay together.
Rooms
Standard Singles measure about 20.5 square meters, while Standard Doubles offer 22.3 to 23.3 square meters. Most regular Twin rooms provide 30 to 32.8 square meters, so two travelers seeking more floor space should compare the twin and double-bed categories.
Triple rooms measure 38 square meters. The 38.4-square-meter Excel Deluxe Fourth accommodates four guests using two regular beds and two extra beds, with the bathroom and toilet in separate spaces. A 60.5-square-meter Accessible room is also available.
For an intersection view, book a Crossing View Superior Twin or Crossing View Excel Twin. Both measure 29.3 square meters, and a general Twin booking doesn't guarantee the same outlook. Superior rooms occupy floors 13 to 19, while Excel rooms are on floors 20 to 24; both were renovated in autumn 2025.
Facilities
Overnight guests can use a small fitness room on the sixth floor, equipped with two treadmills and a training machine. Bring your own workout clothes and shoes because rentals and changing lockers aren't provided.
Baby cribs can be requested free of charge, subject to availability. All guest rooms are non-smoking, with designated smoking areas elsewhere in the hotel.
Dining
The 25th-floor restaurant area is closed for renovation after A bientôt and Shunsai ended service on July 31, 2026. Shibuya Panorama is scheduled to open there in mid-November 2026, bringing a French bistro, a sushi restaurant, and a lounge for guests in selected upper-floor rooms.
During the renovation, breakfast is served at Estacion Cafe on the fifth floor or, on some days, in a sixth-floor banquet room. The paid buffet runs from 6:30am to 10am, with last entry at 9:30am. Japanese and Western choices include fish and rice dishes, breads, eggs, and vegetarian curries.
Estacion remains open for meals, coffee, and cakes outside breakfast hours. Its eight-meter-high ceiling and windows overlooking the crossing provide a place to watch Shibuya without joining the street crowds below.
Location and transport
From JR Shibuya Station's Central Gate, follow signs for the Keio Inokashira Line and Mark City to reach the third-floor hotel entrance. The walk takes about three minutes from the JR gate and two minutes from Keio's Central Gate, followed by an elevator ride to reception.
The JR Yamanote Line serves Harajuku and Shinjuku, while Keio's Inokashira Line runs to Shimokitazawa and Kichijoji. Tokyu and Tokyo Metro lines add routes across the city. Allow extra time to reach your platform because the different railways occupy different levels of the station.
Airport access
The Narita Express connects Narita Airport directly with Shibuya in about 90 minutes. Use a Shinjuku-bound service that calls at Shibuya, as trains on the Yokohama branch follow a different route.
Direct airport buses use the fifth-floor stop at Shibuya Mark City, in the same complex as the hotel. Journeys from Haneda take roughly 45 to 80 minutes, depending on the service and road conditions. For the Narita bus, reserve and pay online in advance; the hotel front desk can't arrange the booking.
Haneda is also reachable by rail, with a change at Shinagawa between the Keikyu and JR Yamanote lines. This avoids road traffic but means changing trains with your luggage.
Why stay here
Dinner or a late evening in Shibuya doesn't require a train ride back to another district when you're staying beside the crossing. The station connection also keeps daytime trips elsewhere straightforward, while the three- and four-person rooms allow families or friends to stay together.
Nearby, you can browse fashion at Shibuya109 or explore Udagawacho's record shops and live music. Shibuya Sky, above the nearby Shibuya Scramble Square complex, offers a broader view across Tokyo.
Good to know
The usual indoor route from JR includes stairs. For step-free access, approach from JR's South Gate and follow the outdoor route to the hotel's first-floor entrance.
Paid parking is in Mark City West on floors 7 and 8, rather than directly beneath the hotel. Drivers should navigate to the parking entrance instead of the hotel's street address.
