Overview
About three minutes from Atami Station, Prince Smart Inn Atami keeps rail arrivals and early departures straightforward. Shinkansen platforms, local trains, buses, and the Heiwadori and Nakamise shopping streets are nearby, which helps when you're carrying luggage or planning onward travel.
This is a limited-service hotel, not a traditional onsen ryokan. Compact rooms, automated check-in, and complimentary breakfast support a streamlined stay, while hot-spring bathing and most leisure time are found elsewhere in Atami.
Rooms
All 125 rooms are non-smoking. Standard Doubles measure 16 square meters, Standard Twins 18 square meters, and the single Universal Double 19 square meters. Double rooms have unit baths, while twins have shower booths with separate washbasin and toilet areas.
The distinction matters when you book. Twins provide separate beds and slightly more floor space, but guests who want a bathtub should consider a double or the step-free Universal Double.
Facilities
Automated check-in is central to the setup. Eligible Seibu Prince members who use the official app can check in by smartphone, use a mobile key, and complete a quick app-based checkout. Coin laundry, vending and ice machines, microwaves, and an amenity corner cover other everyday needs.
Lobby lockers are available only before check-in on the day of the stay, after the automated check-in procedure has been completed. Space is first come, first served, and the lockers can't be used after checkout. On-site parking is also first come, first served and has overnight access restrictions.
Dining
Tully's Coffee operates on the first floor from early morning until early evening. Guests receive a complimentary breakfast there, choosing from light sandwich, toast, muffin, or hot-dog sets with a drink. Breakfast runs from 6:30 AM to 11:30 AM.
It's a simple start to the day, but the cafe isn't a full dinner restaurant. Heiwadori, Nakamise, and Lusca Atami cover most everyday meal needs, while the lower town has more seafood and evening dining.
Location and transport
The hotel is about three minutes on foot from JR Atami Station. Its position in Atami Station Area gives guests quick access to Tokaido Shinkansen and conventional rail services for arrivals from Tokyo and onward trips along the Izu coast.
The two nearby shopping streets are easy to reach, and buses serve sights spread across Atami's hills. MOA Museum of Art is about ten minutes away by bus. Atami Sun Beach is farther downhill, roughly 15 to 20 minutes away on foot.
Why stay here
The short walk to the station simplifies Shinkansen arrivals, early departures, and luggage-heavy transfers. In return, you get a compact, self-service stay rather than an onsen-centered hotel with extensive leisure facilities.
Between train journeys, you can browse the shopping streets, stop at the natural hot-spring footbath outside the JR gates, or take a bus toward the waterfront and hillside sights. That balance leaves time to explore Atami even when the city is one stop on a wider rail itinerary.
Good to know
Being close to the trains doesn't mean being close to the beach. Atami Sun Beach is downhill, and the return is uphill, so a local bus may be more comfortable after a long day. Luggage lockers are limited to the period before check-in on the day of your stay and aren't available after checkout.
