Overview
The preserved administrative building of the former Yokohama City Hall now houses OMO7 Yokohama by Hoshino Resorts in Yokohama-Kannai. Its entrance faces the South Exit of Kannai Station, surrounded by the restaurants and entertainment of BASEGATE Yokohama Kannai.
You can start on foot. Yokohama Stadium stands beside the complex, Chinatown lies farther east, and the streets through Nihon Odori lead toward the old port and waterfront. Inside, original and reworked features from the civic building give the hotel a clear connection to its setting.
Rooms
The hotel has 276 rooms in nine types, ranging from 20 to 73 square meters and accommodating up to six guests. The 24- to 25-square-meter YAGURA Room places two beds on an upper platform above a sofa and dining area. The 41- to 55-square-meter KATARIBA Room centers on a large sofa for two to four people, while the YAGURA Suite accommodates larger groups of up to six.
The layouts differ enough to merit a close comparison. In some YAGURA and KATARIBA bookings, the sofa becomes an extra bed and guests set up the bedding themselves. All rooms are non-smoking, and guests remove their shoes at the entrance.
Facilities
OMO Base carries the building's history into its shared spaces through a recreated grand staircase, reused council-chamber seating, and an exhibition drawn from the former city hall. A library lounge and work room offer places to read, plan the day, or spend time outside the guest room.
Complimentary lockers are available before check-in and after check-out, while smart laundry helps with longer stays. The rooftop HAMAKAZE Terrace overlooks Yokohama Stadium and hosts an evening music program for hotel guests. Three dog-friendly room types are supported by the OMO Dog Garden, which has an indoor lounge and outdoor run.
Dining
Breakfast comes in two formats. OMO Dining serves a buffet with dim sum and other Yokohama-inspired dishes, while OMO Bakery offers a set built around a choice of freshly baked breads, deli items, soup, and a drink. Both options are reserved for overnight guests.
OMO Bakery continues throughout the day with breads and sandwiches, including five kinds of curry bread, before adding drinks in the evening. OMO Dining switches to a casual dinner menu featuring dishes associated with Yokohama alongside Japanese, Western, and Chinese influences.
Location and transport
JR Kannai Station's South Exit is one minute away on foot, and the Blue Line entrance at Kannai is about two minutes away. Nihon-odori Station on the Minatomirai Line is about seven minutes from the hotel.
JR provides the simplest connection through Yokohama Station. The Blue Line runs directly to Shin-Yokohama Station for Tokaido Shinkansen trains, while Nihon-odori is useful for Minatomirai Line trips toward the historic port district and Motomachi-Chukagai.
Airport access
There is no direct airport service from the hotel. From Haneda Airport, take the Keikyu Airport Line to Yokohama Station and change to the JR Negishi Line for Kannai. From Narita Airport, take the Skyliner to Nippori and continue by JR, or take an airport limousine bus to Yokohama City Air Terminal and continue by JR from Yokohama Station.
Why stay here
The short walk from JR and the Blue Line makes arrival easier with luggage, and the lockers let you start exploring before check-in. The preserved civic architecture, rooftop terrace, and broad range of room layouts give you reasons to spend time inside, too.
Yokohama Stadium, Chinatown, and the port can all share one day's itinerary. BASEGATE's restaurants and entertainment also leave plenty close at hand when you don't want to cross the city again.
Good to know
The hotel opened on April 21, 2026. It stands directly in front of JR Kannai Station's South Exit but isn't connected to the station indoors. Airport and Shinkansen journeys require a transfer, while BASEGATE's on-site parking is paid, mechanical, and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
