Overview
A one-minute indoor route from Kokura Station makes arrival unusually simple at JR Kyushu Station Hotel Kokura. Shinkansen platforms, local JR trains, the Kitakyushu Monorail, and AMU Plaza are all close at hand within the station complex.
This is more than a basic stopover. The room selection extends from singles to larger multi-guest layouts and a renovated top floor, while two restaurants and a guest laundry support both short rail stops and longer visits to northern Kyushu.
Rooms
Room categories start with 18.1-square-metre singles and doubles. Standard twins and comfort doubles provide additional space, while 32-square-metre deluxe twins, triples, and quads allow families or friends to share one room. The range extends to a 64-square-metre suite and a step-free Universal Room designed for wheelchair users.
The renovated Superior Floor occupies the 16th floor, where twin and double rooms add sofas and tables. These rooms include access to the dedicated De La Gare lounge. A few other upper room categories also include lounge access, but it isn't available with every booking.
Facilities
The coin laundromat on the 14th floor operates around the clock, a welcome convenience during a longer rail itinerary. On the seventh floor, the De La Gare lounge provides Wi-Fi, power outlets, drinks, and a small outdoor garden for guests in eligible room categories.
Paid parking is available beneath the Kokura Station building. Spaces can't be reserved in advance, so drivers may want a backup plan during busy weekends and events.
Dining
Hachikura serves a Japanese and Western breakfast buffet featuring Kyushu dishes such as fish stewed in salted rice bran and spicy cod roe. Later in the day, it operates as a teppanyaki and skewer-grill restaurant.
Gion serves Japanese course meals in private rooms. Together, the two restaurants make dining in the hotel easy, while AMU Plaza and the streets south of the station provide a broader selection of casual options within a short walk.
Location and transport
The direct station connection places the hotel at the center of Kokura Station Area. Hakata is roughly 15 to 20 minutes away by Shinkansen, while local JR trains reach Mojiko in about 15 minutes. Limited express services continue toward Beppu and Oita.
AMU Plaza is about one minute away. Tanga Market is roughly nine minutes on foot, and Kokura Castle and Mikuni World Stadium are each about 13 minutes from the hotel. The castle, market, and shopping arcades lie south of the tracks, while the stadium and convention district are on the north side.
Airport access
From Kitakyushu Airport, the hotel's published route uses the nonstop bus to Kokura Station's Shinkansen Exit. The journey takes about 40 minutes by bus, followed by a one-minute walk to the hotel.
Reaching Fukuoka Airport requires a change at Hakata. The subway journey to Hakata takes about five minutes, followed by roughly 17 minutes on the Shinkansen to Kokura. Check current timetables before depending on either route for an early flight.
Why stay here
The station connection is the decisive advantage. It removes a street-level transfer after a Shinkansen journey and makes luggage-heavy arrivals, early departures, and wet-weather travel easier to handle.
The location also supports more than an overnight stop. Mojiko is a straightforward local-train excursion, central Kokura's market and castle are within walking distance, and the station has direct links toward Hakata, Beppu, Oita, and destinations along the Sanyo Shinkansen.
Good to know
Exterior wall repairs are scheduled from May 19, 2026 through February 2027. Work is planned on weekdays from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, with possible noise between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Workers using gondolas may pass guest-room windows and carry out work nearby.
Lounge access depends on the room category, while station-building parking is paid and can't be reserved. If either detail affects your stay, confirm the room inclusions or current parking arrangements before booking.
