Transport access and hotel guide

Overview

Yokohama Station, rather than the waterfront, shapes a stay at JR-East Hotel Mets Yokohama. The hotel is in the Yokohama Station Area. From the North Gate and northwest exit of Yokohama Station, the walk takes about three minutes via pedestrian deck.

Guests can divide an itinerary between Yokohama and Tokyo without changing hotels. The station area has department stores, restaurants and everyday shopping close at hand. Minato Mirai and Chinatown are separate sightseeing districts, so expect to use a train for the city's best-known waterfront areas.

Rooms

Space is modest. Rooms range from a 14 sq m Superior Single to 25 sq m Deluxe Twin rooms, with single, double and twin categories between them. Some rooms replace the bathtub with a shower booth, while Deluxe Twin rooms have a bathroom with a separate washing area.

Selected double and twin rooms add a sofa bed. The largest configuration sleeps up to four guests, and a universal design room is also available. All rooms have pocket-coil mattresses, smart TVs, free Wi-Fi and air purifiers with a humidifier function.

Facilities

Self check-in machines handle arrival, with remote reception support available if needed. The hotel can store luggage on the day of check-in and until midnight on the day of departure, which is useful when train times fall outside room hours.

Coin laundry and an amenity station cover the basics for a short stay. Guestroom TVs show the status of the washing machines, and the lobby serves complimentary coffee and tea. All guestrooms are non-smoking; a smoking booth is available elsewhere in the building.

Dining

Breakfast is served at Bistro Katsuki on the third floor from 6:50 to 10:30. The buffet combines Japanese, Western and Chinese-style dishes. It is a convenient option before an early rail day, though takeout breakfast is not available.

Location and transport

Yokohama Station connects JR services with the Tokyu, Keikyu, Sotetsu and Minatomirai lines and the municipal subway. The benefit is choice: central Tokyo, Yokohama's waterfront and local business districts are all reachable without depending on one rail operator.

The hotel's published estimates put Tokyo Station about 27 minutes away and Shinagawa about 20 minutes away by JR. Shinjuku is about 33 minutes on the Shonan-Shinjuku Line. For the Tokaido Shinkansen, Shin-Yokohama Station is about 13 minutes away on the JR Yokohama Line.

The immediate neighborhood is practical rather than scenic. Shops and restaurants around Yokohama Station are easy to reach on foot, while Minato Mirai, the Red Brick Warehouse and Chinatown are better treated as short rail trips.

Airport access

Haneda Airport is about 25 minutes from Yokohama Station by Keikyu trains. Narita Airport is farther away; the Narita Express takes about 90 minutes. On a first or last night, guests still have direct access to Yokohama and a broad choice of onward rail routes.

Why stay here

The advantage is timing. The three-minute station approach, self check-in and same-day luggage storage keep arrival and departure simple. Solo travelers can use the smallest rooms, while couples and small groups can compare doubles and sofa-bed twins. Look elsewhere if waterfront views or walking out into Minato Mirai matter more than station access.

Good to know

Check-in starts at 15:00 and check-out is by 11:00. Families should check the bed layout before booking, since only designated rooms include sofa beds. The affiliated Times JR YOKOHAMA Parking lot costs 1,500 yen per 24 hours, cannot be reserved and does not have spaces reserved for hotel guests.
