Overview
Hotel Oriental Express Tokyo Kamata is three minutes on foot from Keikyu Kamata Station, putting direct Haneda Airport trains within a short walk. Main Line services also run toward Shinagawa and Yokohama.
Much of the hotel's character comes from Ota City's small factories. More than ten local workshops contributed machinery, materials, and design techniques to the interiors, giving the building a stronger local identity than a standard overnight stop near the airport.
Rooms
The 158 rooms include single, double, twin, triple, and accessible categories. Most single and double rooms measure 13.5 square meters, while twins are 17 square meters and triple and accessible rooms are 20 square meters. These compact layouts favor short visits and travelers who value the airport route more than extra floor space.
Every room has an Airweave mattress, Apple TV, a Bluetooth speaker, Wi-Fi, and the usual essentials expected from a compact hotel. All rooms are non-smoking.
Facilities
After breakfast, Express Cafe becomes a guest lounge and workspace with Wi-Fi, power outlets, USB ports, and complimentary drinks until midnight. It gives guests somewhere to work or relax outside their rooms. Coin laundry is available for longer stays, and the front desk is staffed around the clock.
A convenience store is about a minute away. The entrance is locked overnight but opens with a room key, an important detail after a late arrival.
Dining
Breakfast is served as a buffet built around a make-your-own bento. Guests select their dishes, pack the box, and either eat in the cafe or take it back to their room. The current buffet also has a selection of furikake rice seasonings.
There isn't a full-service restaurant for lunch or dinner. Instead, Kamata's neighborhood restaurants provide nearby choices, and the hotel's digital walking guide covers local food, bars, public baths, and workshop culture.
Location and transport
Keikyu Kamata Station is the most convenient arrival point. The hotel publishes a three-minute route from the East Exit via the pedestrian deck across the main road.
Kamata Station is about 15 minutes away on foot, with JR Keihin-Tohoku, Tokyu Ikegami, and Tokyu Tamagawa line services. It provides more options for central and southwest Tokyo, but it isn't the same station as Keikyu Kamata. That distinction matters with luggage.
Airport access
Keikyu Airport Line trains run directly from Keikyu Kamata to Haneda Airport. Service times and stopping patterns vary, so check the destination display and confirm the correct airport terminal before boarding.
The hotel doesn't advertise an airport shuttle. Reaching Narita Airport involves a longer rail journey with at least one transfer.
Why stay here
A three-minute station walk simplifies early Haneda departures and late airport arrivals. The guest lounge is also valuable when you need to work outside your room, while the compact room dimensions and lack of full dinner service are the main tradeoffs.
Kamata brings neighborhood restaurants, bars, public baths, and a manufacturing culture that is reflected throughout the hotel. The digital walking guide encourages guests to explore those local places rather than treating the district only as an airport stop.
Good to know
Check-in begins at 3 p.m., and checkout is at 11 a.m. On-site parking is limited to seven paid standard spaces, allocated on a first-come basis, along with designated microbus and accessible spaces.
If you're arriving by JR, allow for the 15-minute walk from Kamata Station. Don't assume that the two stations bearing the Kamata name share an entrance.
