Overview
About three minutes on foot from Kanazawa Station's Kenrokuen Gate, Hotel Nikko Kanazawa occupies a 30-story building with guest rooms from the 17th floor upward. An underground passage provides a weather-protected route from the station, while the street-level approach passes the nearby Tsuzumi-mon Gate.
The Kanazawa Station Area brings Shinkansen platforms, sightseeing buses, and airport connections together. That proximity helps with late arrivals, early departures, and itineraries built around the Hokuriku Shinkansen. Local buses are the easiest way to reach Omicho Market, Kenrokuen Garden, Kanazawa Castle, Higashi Chaya District, and the 21st Century Museum. The main sightseeing districts aren't directly outside the hotel, but transport is close at hand.
Rooms
Room categories are organized by floor. Stylish rooms occupy floors 17 to 19, Comfort rooms are on floors 20 to 25, Luxe rooms are on floors 26 and 28, and Nikko rooms are on the 27th floor. Published layouts range from 19-square-meter Comfort doubles to the 108-square-meter Imperial Suite, with queen, twin, deluxe, and suite options in between.
Comfort rooms have separate bathrooms and toilets, while the 44-square-meter deluxe layouts can accommodate up to four guests. Nikko and Luxe rooms add more premium finishes and larger choices, although some double rooms on these floors remain relatively compact. Check the exact layout, not just the floor category, before booking.
Facilities
The bell desk can store luggage before check-in or after check-out, receive bags sent ahead, and arrange onward delivery. There's also a concierge desk, a foreign-currency exchange machine, and basement parking.
The hotel doesn't have an onsen or self-service laundromat. Laundry service is available, and a laundromat is a few minutes away on foot. Guests can buy a visitor ticket for the fitness club in the neighboring building, which has a gym, pool, and steam sauna. In-room treatments are available with advance reservations.
Dining
Guests can use the casual all-day buffet or book a more formal dinner in a Japanese, teppanyaki, Chinese, or European restaurant. Lounges and bars add options for drinks. Upper-floor venues have broad views over Kanazawa, while the second-floor Garden House provides the more relaxed setting.
Garden House serves a Japanese and Western breakfast buffet with roughly 40 local dishes and regional specialties in its rotating selection. Its best-known item is French toast made with Kanazawa-style wheat gluten. Benkay also serves a Japanese breakfast on selected days. Check whether breakfast is included in the room rate and confirm current restaurant schedules.
Location and transport
Leave Kanazawa Station through the Kenrokuen Gate and allow about three minutes for the walk. The street-level route passes Tsuzumi-mon Gate; in rain or snow, use the underground passage.
Kanazawa Station has direct Hokuriku Shinkansen service to Tokyo. Travel from Kyoto or Osaka requires a transfer at Tsuruga between the limited express and Shinkansen. For local sightseeing, buses from the Kenrokuen Gate side cover Omicho Market, the castle and garden area, historic districts, and museums. Omicho Market is also about a 12-minute walk from the station.
Airport access
Airport limousine buses connect Komatsu Airport with Kanazawa Station in about an hour. The buses use the Minato Gate side, opposite the hotel's Kenrokuen Gate side, so allow time to cross the station after arriving. This isn't a hotel-door service.
A taxi or private car from Komatsu Airport generally takes about 45 to 60 minutes, depending on traffic. Drivers can reach the hotel's basement parking through the Porte Kanazawa complex.
Why stay here
Early trains and late arrivals are easier to manage from this location. High-floor rooms and a broad dining selection give the stay more character than a simple overnight beside the station, while luggage services and the covered route help when an itinerary includes several rail journeys.
The tradeoff is the distance from Kanazawa's historic center. Omicho Market is the nearest major sightseeing stop, while Kenrokuen Garden, Kanazawa Castle, and the historic districts are easier to reach by bus or taxi.
Good to know
Kanazawa Station has two principal sides. The hotel is by the Kenrokuen Gate, where Tsuzumi-mon Gate and the sightseeing buses are located; Komatsu Airport buses use the Minato Gate on the opposite side.
Use the underground passage in poor weather. The hotel has no onsen or coin-operated laundry, despite the fitness club and steam sauna available in the neighboring building.
