Overview
Six minutes on foot from the west exit of Yokohama Station, Hotel LiVEMAX Yokohama Station West Exit is located among the shops and restaurants of the city's busy western side. The rooms are uncomplicated, intended more for sleeping between days out in Yokohama or train journeys through the region than for spending time indoors.
Convenience takes priority over full-service facilities. Compact rooms, in-room microwaves, and coin laundry cover the essentials, while the surrounding Yokohama Station Area provides ample choice for meals, shopping, and onward travel.
Rooms
Most rooms are 10-square-meter singles designed for one guest. The less numerous twin rooms measure 15 to 16 square meters and sleep up to two.
Space is tight. Singles cover solo stays, while the twins accommodate pairs who don't mind sharing a compact room. Travelers with large bags or anyone expecting to spend considerable time indoors may prefer more space elsewhere.
Facilities
Every room has a microwave and refrigerator, which are particularly handy for simple meals and late arrivals. Coin laundry helps on longer trips or between travel days, while Wi-Fi and individual air conditioning provide the expected basics.
Vending machines are available, but shared facilities are limited. The hotel doesn't have a dedicated car park, so drivers need to use nearby paid parking.
Dining
Max Cafe is currently closed, and breakfast service remains suspended. You'll need to eat elsewhere. Everyday restaurants and cafes are plentiful around the west side of Yokohama Station, so the lack of on-site dining is less troublesome than it would be in a quieter district.
Location and transport
The hotel isn't connected to the rail complex. Reaching it from the west exit requires a six-minute outdoor walk, which is worth considering in rain, summer heat, or when carrying luggage.
JR trains from Yokohama Station serve common trips toward Tokyo, Shinagawa, and Kamakura. The Tokyu Toyoko and Minatomirai lines connect Shibuya with Yokohama's waterfront districts, while the Blue Line runs to Shin-Yokohama Station for Tokaido Shinkansen services.
Airport access
Keikyu trains run directly between Yokohama Station and Haneda Airport. This provides convenient airport rail access rather than hotel-door service, so allow time for the outdoor walk and for navigating the large station complex.
Why stay here
Yokohama Station's rail network is the main reason to stay here. In-room microwaves and laundry support a simple overnight, but public spaces are limited and breakfast isn't available. Compact rooms and the outdoor station walk are the tradeoffs.
On the west side, Sotetsu Joinus and JR Yokohama Tower add shopping, restaurants, and a cinema around the station. If bayfront scenery and evening waterfront walks matter more, staying in Minato Mirai puts those sights closer.
Good to know
Yokohama and Shin-Yokohama are separate stations. Tokaido Shinkansen trains use Shin-Yokohama, reached from Yokohama on the Blue Line. Staying near Shin-Yokohama removes that local transfer when an early bullet train or heavy luggage is part of the trip.
