Overview
Every room at Hilton Takayama Resort faces the Northern Alps. On a forested hillside in the Takayama-Hida Folk Village Area, the hotel is deliberately removed from town, with a complimentary shuttle covering the approximately eight-minute journey from Takayama Station.
The resort opens on September 14, 2026, after a major renovation and the rebranding of Hotel Associa Takayama Resort. Its hot-spring complex, mountain outlook, and broad dining choice make the hotel a destination in its own right. The tradeoff is clear: guests give up the walk-out convenience of staying beside the station or old town.
Rooms
Standard rooms measure about 35 square metres, while Deluxe rooms offer about 46 square metres. All face the Northern Alps, though weather and visibility will affect the view.
Five suites occupy the top of the range. Existing suites offer about 70 square metres, while a new 90-square-metre suite provides more space. Executive rooms and suites include Executive Lounge access, which is also available to eligible Hilton Honors Diamond members.
The full plan covers 283 rooms, but the opening will be phased. About 90 rooms are expected to accept guests initially, with availability increasing as renovation work progresses. All 283 rooms are planned to be available in spring 2027.
Facilities
Ten outdoor baths and two indoor baths form the Ten Bou No Yu hot-spring complex. The open-air options include an infinity bath, and both the guest rooms and large baths look toward the Northern Alps. This is the clearest reason to stay here rather than at a central business hotel.
A fitness center is open to guests, while the Executive Lounge is available when room category or status qualifies. Families have access to a children's playground and cots. Free self-parking and electric-vehicle charging are available for drivers. The hotel is entirely non-smoking apart from two designated smoking areas, and pets aren't accepted.
Dining
Four venues cover Western, Japanese, teppanyaki, and lounge dining. Seasonal local produce, Hida beef, seafood, and regional sake appear across the menus, giving guests several distinct options without leaving the resort.
VISTAS combines Western and local dishes with mountain views, WAKI focuses on Japanese cooking, GAKU serves teppanyaki, and SCENERY operates as the lounge and bar. Buffet breakfast costs extra unless included in the room plan.
Location and transport
The hotel occupies wooded high ground southwest of central Takayama. Its complimentary shuttle takes about eight minutes from Takayama Station, but this isn't a verified walking route. Check the current timetable before arrival, particularly if you have an early train or expect a late return.
Hilton places both Hida Folk Village and Takayama's old town approximately 2.8 kilometres away. Neither attraction is immediately outside the entrance. Depending on the route and weather, a taxi, local bus, hotel shuttle, or car may be more convenient than walking.
Airport access
The hotel doesn't provide an airport shuttle. From Chubu Centrair International Airport, the usual public-transport journey uses a Meitetsu train to Nagoya, followed by a Limited Express Hida train or highway bus to Takayama. The hotel shuttle covers the final leg.
It's a multi-stage journey. Allow enough time for transfers, and match your arrival with the last station shuttle rather than treating the resort as directly connected to the airport.
Why stay here
Mountain views, extensive hot-spring bathing, and a self-contained resort experience are the main reasons to stay here. The station shuttle removes the need for a car on arrival, while the playground, larger room categories, and on-site dining can make a family stay easier. In return, Takayama's old town isn't within a quick stroll.
Hida Folk Village adds substance to the hillside location. Its collection of traditional farmhouses and workshops introduces visitors to Hida architecture and crafts before they explore the merchant streets, markets, and sake breweries of central Takayama. Those central sights remain accessible, but reaching them requires a short ride rather than a walk from the lobby.

The opening date is September 14, 2026, and room inventory will increase in phases until the renovation is complete. Travelers booking the first few months should expect a smaller initial room count and check the hotel's latest operating details.
Check-in begins at 3:00 p.m., and checkout is at noon. The complimentary shuttle links the resort with Takayama Station; it isn't an airport shuttle or an on-demand neighborhood service.
