Overview
A natural hot-spring bath changes the pace after a day out in Nara. Daiwa Roynet Hotel Nara is about three minutes on foot from the West Exit of JR Nara Station, while Kintetsu Nara Station is roughly 15 minutes away.
JR arrivals, early departures, and luggage-heavy transfers are easier on this side of town. Nara Park and the main temple district lie farther east, so guests who want the shortest walk to those sights should compare the Kintetsu side.
Rooms
The Standard Double measures 16.5 square meters, while the Standard Twin fits two beds into 16.41 square meters. Comfort rooms provide a little more floor area, and the 19.62-square-meter Comfort Double adds an LG Styler for refreshing clothes between travel days.
For three guests, the Superior Twin and trundle-bed layouts measure about 26.4 square meters. Two trundle rooms can connect for groups of up to six. Corner Deluxe Twins and the two Premium Suites add separate bath and toilet areas, with the suites measuring about 53 to 55 square meters. A Universal Twin with a motorized bed is also available.
Facilities
The second-floor Nara Wakakusa-no-Yu uses water from the hotel's own natural hot-spring source. It opens in the morning and again from mid-afternoon until midnight, giving guests time for a soak before breakfast or after sightseeing.
Coin laundry is available on the fifth and eighth floors. The hotel also has 50 onsite parking spaces, split between outdoor and multistory areas, but they are first come, first served.
Dining
Restaurant Asuka serves a Japanese and Western breakfast buffet from 6:30 to 10:00. Local touches include somen noodles and chagayu, a rice porridge made with tea.
The restaurant also opens for lunch and dinner. That leaves an onsite option for guests who would rather eat before heading out or after returning from the park side of town.
Location and transport
The hotel is in JR Nara Station Area, west of the historic center. JR services connect Nara with Kyoto and Osaka, while buses and taxis continue east toward Nara Park and the temple district.
Kintetsu Nara is farther from the hotel but closer to the park on foot. The two stations serve different rail networks, so the better one depends on whether the trip is built around JR travel or immediate access to the main sights.
Airport access
Direct limousine buses to Kansai International Airport and Osaka Itami Airport use JR Nara Station's East Exit. The hotel is near the West Exit, so passengers need to cross the station rather than expecting a hotel-door stop.
Airport-bound services may require reservations and do not run continuously. Check the current Nara Kotsu timetable before matching a bus with your flight.
Why stay here
A JR arrival leaves only a short walk to check-in, and the hot-spring bath provides an easy way to unwind without going back into town. The same position helps with early trains and direct airport buses, although the bus stops are on the opposite side of the station.
Sanjo-dori leads east toward Naramachi, where narrow streets of former merchant houses now hold cafes, craft shops, and Gangoji Temple. Continue farther east for Nara Park's deer lawns and temple routes, or use a local bus when the walk doesn't appeal.
Good to know
The Standard Twin places two beds in 16.41 square meters, so guests sharing the room with several large bags may prefer a Comfort, Superior, or Corner layout.
Parking cannot be reserved. If the 50 onsite spaces are full, the hotel has no affiliated overflow car park, and drivers must use nearby paid parking.
