Overview
Four minutes on foot from the South Exit of Kokura Station, Daiwa Roynet Hotel Kokura Ekimae puts guests on the downtown side of the tracks. Uomachi's covered shopping streets begin nearby, and the route continues toward Tanga Market and Kokura Castle. Downtown starts almost at the door.
The hotel has 175 rooms, all measuring at least 18 square metres, plus an Italian restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It isn't connected to the railway, but the short walk makes it easy to combine Shinkansen trips, airport-bus arrivals, and evenings in central Kokura.
Rooms
Room sizes begin at 18.2 square metres for the Standard Double. Superior Doubles add a wider bed and more floor space, while twin options range from the 20.15-square-metre Compact Twin to Hollywood and Corner layouts of roughly 27 to 28 square metres. A Universal Double is available by direct inquiry.
Check the bathroom layout before booking. Standard Doubles and Compact Twins use unit baths, while Superior Doubles, Hollywood Twins, and Corner Twins separate the bathtub area from the toilet. Corner Twins can accommodate a third guest with an extra bed. Most categories have broad work desks, but the Compact Twin exchanges the desk for two beds and under-bed luggage storage.
Facilities
Three coin-operated laundry machines operate around the clock on the seventh floor. Same-day luggage storage, free Wi-Fi, microwaves, ice, and vending machines cover the usual needs of a city stay without turning the hotel into a leisure destination.
The mechanical car park has 28 spaces and doesn't accept reservations. Vehicle limits apply, and drivers will need another paid car park if it is full or their vehicle is too large.
Dining
Salvatore Cuomo & Bar Kokura occupies the first floor. Breakfast is served from 6:30 AM to 9:30 AM as a Japanese and Western buffet, with local chicken rice and chicken udon among the current regional dishes. The restaurant returns for Italian lunch and dinner, so dining in the building isn't limited to breakfast.
Uomachi and the streets between the hotel and Tanga Market provide far more choice nearby. That matters on the south side of the station, where central Kokura's arcades and restaurants are closer than the convention district north of the tracks.
Location and transport
The hotel is part of the Kokura Station Area, but its position is firmly on the downtown side. Kokura Station brings together the Sanyo Shinkansen, regional JR trains, the Kitakyushu Monorail, local buses, and airport coaches. The four-minute approach is outdoors rather than through a covered connection.
For sightseeing, the hotel's published walking times place Tanga Market about seven minutes away and Kokura Castle about ten minutes away. Uomachi's covered arcades lie between them, so a market, shopping, and castle outing can begin without first crossing the railway.
Airport access
Direct buses connect Kitakyushu Airport with Kokura in about 33 minutes. They use stops around Kokura Station rather than the hotel door, but the main bus center is about three minutes away on foot. Check the current stop and timetable before matching the service to a flight.
Reaching Fukuoka Airport requires a transfer at Hakata. Take the subway to Hakata Station, then continue to Kokura by Shinkansen. The route isn't direct, although the short final walk from Kokura keeps the arrival manageable.
Why stay here
Shinkansen travel, an airport-bus arrival, and time in downtown Kokura can all fit comfortably into the same stay. The short station walk handles transport, while rooms starting at 18.2 square metres and a restaurant serving all three main meals give you more reason to return between plans.
The south-side setting matters just as much. Uomachi's arcades, Tanga Market, and Kokura Castle form a natural route through central Kokura, with shops and restaurants woven into the walk rather than concentrated inside the station complex.
Good to know
The hotel is close to Kokura Station but isn't directly connected. Its nearest entrance is the South Exit, while the Shinkansen Exit and Asano convention district are on the opposite side of the tracks. Allow extra time to reach them with luggage.
Parking is first come, first served. The street entrances are locked from midnight to 6:00 AM, but checked-in guests can enter with their room key.
