Overview

Courtyard by Marriott Kyoto Station is scheduled to open on November 16, 2026, with 270 rooms three minutes on foot from the Hachijo East Exit of Kyoto Station. Shinkansen, JR and Kintetsu trains, and the Karasuma subway will all be a short outdoor walk away.

That location will simplify long-distance arrivals and rail-based sightseeing. Guests can check in without taking another train or taxi, then return to the station for day trips around Kyoto and beyond. All-day dining, a cafe and bar, and a 24-hour fitness center will give the hotel more on-site choice than a simple overnight stop.

Rooms

Ten room types will range from 22-square-metre king rooms to 66-square-metre king and twin suites. Most will be 28-square-metre king or twin layouts, offering more space than the entry category without requiring a suite.

Selected 28-square-metre rooms will have bathtubs, while others will be on higher floors. Only five 31-square-metre corner king rooms and nine suites are planned, so these limited layouts may sell quickly. Check the exact room description when the bathtub or bedding arrangement matters.

Facilities

The third-floor fitness center will operate around the clock. Front desk service, currency exchange, and valet dry cleaning will cover routine needs, including those that arise during a longer stay.

The hotel also plans to provide Luggage Express, a same-day service that uses the Tokaido Shinkansen to transport bags across a wider area. It could ease the logistics of a split-city trip, but you'll need to confirm eligible destinations and cut-off times before relying on it. There will be no on-site parking, and drivers are directed to nearby off-site parking.

Dining

The 8th Gate will combine an all-day restaurant with a separate cafe and bar. Plans call for a breakfast buffet and other meals featuring Kyoto ingredients. Coffee and light food will be served during the day, followed by local sake and occasional live piano performances in the evening.

Published hours are 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. The venue will have 110 restaurant seats, including two private rooms, plus 40 cafe and bar seats. That capacity should make dining on site convenient before an early train or after a full day of sightseeing.

Location and transport

The Hachijo side of Kyoto Station is convenient for Tokaido Shinkansen departures and Kintetsu trains. JR local services provide direct routes toward Fushimi Inari and Nara, while the Karasuma subway runs north through central Kyoto. The station itself also contains extensive shopping and dining.

The wider Kyoto Station Area favors transport convenience over a traditional streetscape. Gion and the main Higashiyama sights still require a local train, bus, or taxi, so travelers expecting to spend every evening in eastern Kyoto may prefer to stay there.

Airport access

The JR Haruka runs directly from Kansai International Airport to Kyoto Station. After leaving the platform, guests must continue through the station to the Hachijo East Exit, then walk outdoors for about three minutes.

From Osaka Itami Airport, limousine buses serve the Kyoto Station area on the Hachijo side, followed by a short walk. Neither airport route ends at the hotel entrance, and the hotel won't provide its own airport shuttle.

Why stay here

Early Shinkansen departures, Haruka airport arrivals, and rail day trips will begin within a short walk. A full restaurant and bar, 24-hour gym, and broad range of room types add flexibility without giving up proximity to the station.

There is more nearby than transport. Kyoto Station has extensive shopping and dining concourses, while To-ji and Higashi Hongan-ji bring major temple visits into the wider district. Even so, the location is better for convenient connections than for stepping directly into Kyoto's historic eastern neighborhoods.

The hotel won't be directly connected to Kyoto Station. Its advertised three-minute walk begins at the Hachijo East Exit and is outdoors, which matters in poor weather or with heavy luggage. There will be neither on-site parking nor a hotel-run airport shuttle.
