Overview
Rooftop views across Beppu Bay come with a remarkably central location at AMANEK Beppu YULA-RE. The hotel is three minutes on foot from the East Exit of Beppu Station, yet guests can end the day in a 14th-floor hot-spring bath or swim in the infinity pool one floor above.
The experience reaches beyond the hotel. A room-key payment system covers roughly 50 participating restaurants, while the nearby station puts JR trains, airport buses, and local services within a short walk.
Rooms
Most of the 191 non-smoking rooms are king or twin layouts for one or two guests, with natural wood, latticework, and details inspired by Beppu bamboo craft. Deluxe triples have three fixed beds, while Japanese-Western rooms accommodate up to four guests with two beds and two futons.
The Japanese Spa Suite sleeps up to six with four beds and two futons. Its source-fed, semi-open-air hot-spring bath comes in either stone or cypress, so a private soak doesn't depend on the public-bath schedule. An accessible twin includes a barrier-free bathroom.
Facilities
On the 14th floor, the public bath combines an indoor hot-spring pool with a source-fed open-air bath overlooking Beppu's rooftops, bay, and mountains. The sauna and cold bath are available on the men's side only.
One floor higher, the rooftop infinity pool opens in the morning and again from mid-afternoon to evening. It isn't filled with hot-spring water, and swimwear is required. Elsewhere, guests have access to a 24-hour fitness room, coin laundry, and a first-floor lounge.
Dining
Breakfast begins at 6:30 AM in the first-floor lounge. The buffet uses ingredients from Oita and Kyushu, alongside regional dishes and made-to-order choices such as tempura, rolled omelet, and customizable Beppu cold noodles.
Dinner takes a different approach. Through the HEYAZUKE system, guests can charge meals at roughly 50 participating restaurants to their room key and settle the bill at checkout. Central Beppu's dining streets become part of the stay rather than an alternative to a single in-house restaurant.
Complimentary soft drinks are served in the lounge from afternoon to evening. A paid free-flow alcohol plan is available separately.
Location and transport
AMANEK Beppu YULA-RE is in the Beppu Station Area, three minutes from the station's East Exit. JR limited express trains connect Beppu with Oita, Kokura, and Hakata, while local buses serve the city's other hot-spring districts.
Central restaurants and Takegawara Onsen are within walking distance. Kannawa and the main Hells area are farther uphill, about 20 minutes away by bus from Beppu Station. The Hells themselves are divided between two clusters.
Airport access
The scheduled Airliner bus links Oita Airport with Beppu Station in around 50 minutes under typical conditions. From the station, the final walk takes about three minutes.
This is public transport, not a hotel shuttle. Check the current stop and timetable before departure, especially for an early journey or a tight flight connection.
Why stay here
The three-minute station walk simplifies arrival, while the infinity pool, high-floor hot-spring baths, and larger multi-guest rooms give the stay more character than a basic station hotel. The dining system is another genuine point of difference if you'd rather explore central Beppu at night than eat every meal inside the building.
From here, you can walk to older downtown baths and restaurants, then take a bus to Kannawa's steam-filled lanes and the Hells. The tradeoff is clear: those higher hot-spring districts aren't at the door.
Good to know
Bring swimwear for the infinity pool, which isn't filled with hot-spring water. Pool hours may change for maintenance, and the rooftop tent sauna is seasonal. The public baths operate from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM and from 3:00 PM to midnight.
Parking is available at a nearby paid partner car park rather than on the hotel grounds. The current rate covers one entry per stay period, so leaving and returning by car can incur another charge.
