Overview
Yodoyabashi Station brings Osaka's main north-south subway route together with the western terminus of the Keihan Main Line. Within Osaka-Kitahama, it is the better station when Midosuji Line connections matter more than the Sakaisuji Line at nearby Kitahama.
The surrounding streets form a central business district beside the Tosabori River. Nakanoshima Park, government buildings, offices, and historic architecture are close to the exits, while Keihan trains follow a separate eastbound corridor toward Kyobashi and Kyoto. That distinction matters.
Lines and connections
Yodoyabashi is M17 on the Osaka Metro Midosuji Line, between Umeda and Hommachi. Northbound trains run directly to Umeda and Shin-Osaka before continuing toward Minoh-kayano. Southbound services call at Hommachi, Shinsaibashi, Namba, and Tennoji, covering many of Osaka's busiest visitor districts without a transfer.
On the Keihan network, Yodoyabashi is KH01 and the Osaka terminus of the Main Line. Trains call at Kitahama, Temmabashi, and Kyobashi before continuing into central Kyoto. Express and limited express stopping patterns vary along the route.
Station area
The station extends beneath Midosuji and the riverfront business district. North-side exits serve Osaka City Hall and the major public buildings on Nakanoshima. Other exits lead toward Kitahama's office streets and the traditional commercial district south of the river.
The Royal Park Canvas Osaka Kitahama is about eight minutes from Exit 8. Kitahama Station is closer to the hotel, but Yodoyabashi has the direct Midosuji route toward Shin-Osaka, Umeda, and the main Minami districts.
What's nearby
Yodoyabashi Bridge crosses the Tosabori River at the station, and Nakanoshima Park begins immediately to the north. Its rose garden lies toward Kitahama, with major historic buildings farther along the island. South and east of the station, the Kitahama and Semba streets contain more early modern commercial architecture.
A tourist information center near the Keihan and Osaka Metro station areas provides guidance for Osaka and for Keihan trips toward Kyoto and Shiga.
Good to know
The Midosuji Line and Keihan Main Line have separate platforms and ticket gates, so follow signs for the correct operator when transferring. Kitahama is the next Keihan stop east, but its Osaka Metro service is on the Sakaisuji Line. The two station names aren't interchangeable.
