Overview
Odawara Station and Odawara Castle frame the location. Toyoko Inn Odawara-eki Higashi-guchi is east of the tracks, between the main concourse and the castle-town streets. Conventional JR trains have the shortest approach, while the Tokaido Shinkansen ticket gate is across the station complex on the west side.
The east-side position matters. It works for a night before Hakone, an early conventional JR train, or a stay with time for the castle and dinner in town. Breakfast is included, and the overall setup remains focused on the basics.
Rooms
Guest rooms have Wi-Fi, rain showers, and nightwear. A Heartful Room B is available for an accessible stay, though it's worth checking availability before booking if you need that layout.
Much of the value lies beyond the room: quick rail connections, breakfast before departure, and central Odawara within walking distance.
Facilities
Self-check-in kiosks simplify arrivals. Drivers have 18 surface parking spaces, charged at 1,000 yen per night. Spaces are assigned on a first-come basis and can't be reserved, so keep a nearby paid lot in mind if you're arriving late.
Dining
The free buffet runs from 6:30 AM to 9:00 AM. Odawara oden and kamaboko are served every day alongside Japanese and Western dishes, giving an otherwise familiar Toyoko Inn breakfast a distinct local note.
For later meals, Minaka Odawara and the surrounding east-side streets have seafood, casual dining, and local specialties. You won't need another train ride to find dinner.
Location and transport
The hotel is in the Odawara Station Area. Allow about three minutes on foot from JR Odawara, five minutes from the Odakyu and Hakone Tozan platforms, and seven minutes from the Tokaido Shinkansen ticket gate.
Those different times reflect the station layout. JR conventional trains keep Tokyo, Yokohama, and the Tokaido corridor close at hand, while Odakyu and Hakone Tozan services carry travelers toward Hakone-Yumoto. Shinkansen passengers need to cross from the east-side hotel to the west-side gate.
Why stay here
An overnight pause before Hakone is easy to manage, with the Odakyu and Hakone Tozan platforms five minutes away and breakfast starting at 6:30 AM. Conventional JR arrivals have the shortest walk. If your next train is a Shinkansen, allow the full seven minutes to its gate rather than timing the trip from the nearest JR entrance.
The east side also gives the stay a life beyond train connections. Odawara Castle is about three minutes from the hotel, while Minaka Odawara and nearby streets add shops, restaurants, seafood, and local foods such as oden and kamaboko.
Good to know
Check-in begins at 3:00 PM and checkout is at 10:00 AM. The shortest station walk applies to conventional JR trains, not the Shinkansen gate, and none of the hotel's 18 parking spaces is guaranteed.
