Overview
Facing Sapporo TV Tower from the eastern end of Odori Park, The Royal Park Canvas Sapporo Odori Park is one minute from Odori Station Exit 23. Its 134 rooms, timber-rich interiors, and public spaces bring Hokkaido materials and character to a central Sapporo-Odori stay.
This is a design-led city hotel rather than a conventional full-service tower. The park and subway interchange shape the location, while the rooftop, lounge, and record collection make time inside feel more considered than at a standard hotel near the station.
Rooms
Rooms are divided between the Gallery Floors on levels 3 to 8 and the timber-framed Cabin Floors on levels 9 to 11. Gallery rooms feature Hokkaido fir ceilings, local wood, and art inspired by the region. Cabin rooms have a simpler, more wood-focused finish, with selected categories facing the park or TV Tower.
Room sizes range from 19.4-square-meter twins to the 47.8-square-meter Odori Suite. Compare the park-view categories if the outlook matters. Several twin and double layouts can accommodate a third guest, while bathroom arrangements range from showers in some entry categories to bathtubs with separate washing areas in many higher categories.
There aren't any televisions in the rooms. Instead, every category has a record player and original wood speaker, with records available through the lounge. The distinction is deliberate. Guests who expect a familiar screen-based evening should take note.
Facilities
The second-floor CANVAS Lounge KOKAGE faces the park and features Hokkaido ash furniture, plants, a fireplace, library books, and music events. It's open to non-guests as well as hotel guests, so the atmosphere is more social than that of a private executive lounge.
Outdoor Living SAPPORO occupies the rooftop deck, where fire pits and sofa areas support seasonal food, drinks, and events. The exact setup changes throughout the year. Coin laundry and an ironing room on the third floor, along with a self-service rental-item room, cover everyday needs during a longer stay.
Dining
HOKKAIDO CUISINE KAMUY serves breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner on the first floor. Breakfast pairs a made-to-order galette with a half buffet centered on Hokkaido produce. The buffet changes, but salads, grilled items, and local bread are regular parts of the spread. Rice dishes and regional drinks round it out beside windows facing the park.
The lounge serves lighter meals and drinks later in the day, with Hokkaido craft spirits and wines among the evening choices. DJs perform on Friday and Saturday nights. If you'd prefer a quieter evening, consider whether an active public lounge and a park-view room will feel like advantages or distractions.
Location and transport
Odori Station Exit 23 is about one minute away. The Namboku, Tozai, and Toho subway lines meet there, providing direct local routes in every direction. Sapporo TV Tower stands across the park edge, while the Clock Tower and Nijo Market fit easily into central sightseeing plans.
JR Sapporo Station is about 15 minutes away on foot via the Sapporo Ekimae-dori underground walkway. That route is more sheltered than walking entirely at street level, but the hotel isn't directly connected to the ticket gates at either station.
Airport access
JR Airport trains travel from New Chitose Airport to Sapporo Station in about 39 minutes. From there, continue one subway stop to Odori or complete the roughly 15-minute final walk through the underground route.
An airport bus to Odori Park is another option. The journey takes about 65 minutes, followed by a five-minute walk from the stop. This avoids a rail transfer but is more exposed to traffic and winter road conditions.
Why stay here
Odori puts park events, central sightseeing, and all three subway lines outside the door, while JR platforms remain one stop north. The one-minute station walk is especially helpful in winter, and the rooftop and lounge give guests places to spend time beyond their room.
The TV Tower, Odori Park, Clock Tower, and Nijo Market can anchor a first day on foot. Susukino is one subway stop south for a busier evening, while Sapporo Station is one stop north for airport trains and longer JR journeys.
Good to know
Check-in begins at 3:00 PM, and checkout is by 11:00 AM. The rooftop program changes with the season. There is no private car park, though affiliated mechanical parking is a short walk away and has vehicle-size and access restrictions.
Room category affects the view, bathroom layout, and capacity. Confirm the exact park or tower outlook when booking rather than assuming every room faces the landmark.
