Overview
Shinkansen services, Kintetsu trains, and many airport buses converge on the Hachijo side of Kyoto Station. Sotetsu Fresa Inn Kyoto-Hachijoguchi is about three minutes on foot from the Hachijo East Exit, leaving only a short final walk after arrival or before an early departure.
Rooms are compact. The location is especially convenient for a first or last night in Kyoto, an early train, or an itinerary built around rail trips across Kansai.
Rooms
All 138 rooms are non-smoking and furnished with Serta beds and humidifying air purifiers. Standard doubles measure 12.8 to 13.9 square metres, while comfort doubles and twins provide a little more floor space. In twin rooms, the passage can feel narrow when large suitcases are open.
Connecting rooms combine a twin and a comfort double behind an internal door, sleeping up to four people across two separate sleeping areas. A 17.7-square-metre universal double is available by telephone reservation.
Facilities
Self-service machines handle check-in and checkout, while the front desk can store luggage before check-in and after checkout. Coin-operated washers and dryers, microwaves, and vending machines cover useful routines during a longer trip.
Room payments are cashless. Credit cards and supported QR-code payments are accepted, but cash isn't.
Dining
A Japanese and Western buffet is served on the first floor from 6:30 AM to 10:00 AM, with last entry at 9:30 AM. Kyoto-style vegetable dishes, tofu, pickles, and bancha tea are available alongside familiar egg and sausage options.
For lunch and dinner, Kyoto Station and the surrounding Kyoto Station Area provide a wider choice of shops and restaurants. Breakfast tickets purchased at the front desk also require cashless payment.
Location and transport
Follow signs for the Hachijo East Exit rather than the Central Exit on the Kyoto Tower side. The Hachijo side is closer to the Shinkansen and Kintetsu gates, while JR local lines and the Karasuma Subway are reached within the larger station complex.
Each connection serves a different part of the trip. The Shinkansen handles longer intercity journeys, JR lines support many Kansai day trips, and the subway runs directly north to south through Kyoto.
Airport access
Public limousine buses for Kansai International Airport and Itami Airport depart from stops at the Kyoto Station Hachijo Exit, about one minute on foot from the hotel. These are airport coaches, not a hotel shuttle.
Direct Haruka trains also connect Kansai International Airport with Kyoto Station, typically taking about 75 minutes. From the railway platforms, follow station signs to the Hachijo East Exit for the final walk.
Why stay here
The short Hachijo-side approach takes some of the strain out of early departures, airport-bus journeys, and returns with shopping or luggage. Coin laundry is another helpful feature during a multi-stop Kansai trip.
The wider station district is modern and commercial, with shopping, dining, and Toji Temple nearby. If most evenings will be spent around Gion or Higashiyama, plan on local travel rather than expecting those neighborhoods outside the hotel door.
Good to know
The hotel is near Kyoto Station but isn't connected to the station building, and the final approach is outdoors. Standard check-in is at 3:00 PM, and checkout is at 11:00 AM. There is no hotel parking, so drivers need to use nearby public parking.
