Overview
About one minute under cover separates Sheraton Grand Hiroshima Hotel from Hiroshima Station's Shinkansen Gate. The hotel occupies the north side of the Hiroshima Station Area, close to the JR concourses and the Hiroshima Airport limousine bus stop.
That proximity shapes the stay. Early Shinkansen departures, luggage-heavy arrivals, and rail day trips are easier to manage here than in Hiroshima's central sightseeing districts. Peace Memorial Park and Hondori are still a local ride away, but there's far less outdoor ground to cover between your room, a long-distance train, and the airport bus.
Rooms
The hotel has 238 non-smoking rooms, including five suites. Most categories start at about 35 square meters, giving couples and guests with large bags more floor space than many hotels designed mainly for an overnight stop beside the tracks. Work areas and broad windows are common, and many rooms look across the city.
Sheraton Club rooms occupy the 20th and 21st floors. The lounge is open from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM, with breakfast and an evening happy hour among its main privileges. Access depends on the room rate or Marriott Bonvoy status, so it isn't included with every reservation.
Facilities
The complimentary fitness center is open around the clock for guests aged 18 or older. It reopened after a July 2025 refurbishment with new exercise machines and renewed shower and sauna areas.
Different rules apply to the heated indoor pool, dry and steam saunas, and lockers. Most guests pay a daily fee, while selected Sheraton Club rates include admission. Shine Spa offers treatments for visitors who want to set aside time for relaxation.
Dining
Bridges serves buffet breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with breakfast beginning at 6:30 AM. Live cooking stations and a broad Japanese and Western selection work equally well for an early meal before a train or a slower start to the day.
Miyabi-Tei covers Japanese dining through kaiseki, sushi, and teppanyaki. Later, the bar and lobby lounge serve lighter food, coffee, and drinks, while room service offers another option when you'd rather stay in. Dinner doesn't require crossing the station.
Location and transport
The north-side passage leads directly toward the Shinkansen Gate and JR platforms. Sanyo Shinkansen trains run east toward Okayama and Shin-Osaka and west toward Fukuoka, while local JR lines support day trips beyond the city. The Sanyo Main Line is the usual route to Miyajimaguchi for Miyajima, and the Kure Line follows the coast toward Kure.
Most city transport is concentrated on the opposite side of the rail complex. Streetcars now enter the second floor of the rebuilt south-side station building, with platforms on the same level as the main pedestrian passages. Walk through the station for services toward central Hiroshima, including the Atomic Bomb Dome and Peace Memorial Park. The route is much clearer than it used to be, though the streetcars still aren't on the hotel's doorstep.
Airport access
Hiroshima Airport limousine buses depart from Platform 5 beside the Shinkansen Gate. Scheduled journeys take about 45 to 50 minutes, and the stop is close to the hotel's covered route. Traffic or a full bus can add uncertainty, so leave extra time before a flight.
This is a nearby public bus, not a hotel shuttle. Arriving passengers use the Hiroshima Station Shinkansen Gate stop, then continue the short final section to the hotel.
Why stay here
An early train, a late arrival, or a day trip to Miyajima becomes easier when the station is under cover and the airport bus leaves from the same side. Larger rooms, dining throughout the day, and leisure facilities also support a longer visit rather than only a quick night between trains. The tradeoff is the distance from Hiroshima's central evening and memorial districts.
Shukkeien is the nearest major sightseeing stop on this side of the city. The historic strolling garden uses a central pond, bridges, and restored pavilions to create changing views along its paths. Across the station, Ekinishi brings small restaurants, local food, and bar hopping to a compact dining quarter of converted older buildings.
Good to know
Pool and sauna admission isn't automatically included with every room rate. Check whether your booking carries Sheraton Club privileges, and note that children under 13 have limited lounge access during happy hour.
The covered link leads to Hiroshima Station, not directly to the airport bus. Peace Memorial Park and Hondori also require a streetcar, bus, or taxi, so this location favors train and airport logistics over repeated evenings in the city center.
