Overview
Every guest room here has a kitchen and washer-dryer, giving short visits and longer stays some of the convenience of an apartment. The hotel is in the Takayama Station Area. The East Exit of Takayama Station is two minutes away on foot.
The neighboring bus center is close enough for easy regional departures, while Takayama's old merchant streets, Miyagawa Morning Market, and Takayama Jinya are all within a 15-minute walk. You can arrive with luggage, settle in quickly, and still explore the historic center on foot.
Rooms
The hotel has 64 non-smoking rooms. Standard Twin and Standard Double rooms measure about 30 to 31 square metres and accommodate two adults, with more floor space than many compact business-hotel rooms. Both have the same kitchen and laundry setup found throughout the hotel.
Larger parties can compare the Couple Suite for four adults with the Deluxe Suite for up to five. These suites use separate bed groups rather than extra beds, and the hotel doesn't provide extra beds or cribs. Check the published layout against your party before booking.
Simmons mattresses, individual climate control, and air purifiers cover the main comfort details. The kitchen and washer-dryer are the real distinction, especially if you'd like to prepare a simple meal, wash clothes midway through a trip, or pack less for a longer itinerary.
Facilities
Each kitchen comes with cookware and tableware, while the in-room washer-dryer means there's no need to wait for a shared laundry room. Vending machines cover drinks, and the building has 17 paid parking spaces. Drivers should keep a nearby paid lot in mind in case the car park is full.
Overnight guests can also use natural hot-spring and fitness facilities at affiliated hotels in Takayama without charge. They aren't in the Residence Hotel building, so ask reception which locations are participating and when they're open before making plans around them.
Location and transport
Takayama Station serves Limited Express Hida trains toward Nagoya and Toyama. The bus center beside it fills gaps in the rail network with routes toward Shirakawa-go, the Okuhida hot-spring area, Kanazawa, and Matsumoto. Being two minutes from both helps when an itinerary combines a reserved bus with a long-distance train.
The old town is close, but not right outside the lobby. Allow up to 15 minutes on foot for Sanmachi, the morning markets, or Takayama Jinya. Hida Folk Village is in the other direction and is better reached by local bus from the station area.
Airport access
Takayama is several hours from a major airport. From Chubu Centrair International Airport, the estimated journey is roughly four hours, usually via an airport train to Nagoya and the Limited Express Hida, or by combining airport and highway buses. The hotel's station-side position simplifies the final walk, but this isn't a direct airport transfer.
Arrivals through Tokyo or Osaka also require a long-distance connection. Takayama has no Shinkansen service, so rail journeys usually involve changing at Nagoya for the mountain section aboard the Limited Express Hida. Check the full timetable before committing to a late flight or early departure.
Why stay here
A kitchen and washer-dryer in every room make the biggest difference on multi-night stays, family trips, and longer journeys when doing laundry once can reduce how much you carry. The larger suites extend that advantage to groups of four or five without moving the stay away from the station.
The location still leaves room for sightseeing. Sanmachi's merchant streets, Takayama Jinya, and two morning markets are within the central walking area, so staying close to transport doesn't mean giving up Takayama's historic core.
Good to know
All rooms are non-smoking, and extra beds and cribs aren't available. The 17-space car park currently costs 800 yen per night from 3:00 p.m. until noon the following day; if it's full, use a nearby paid lot. Complimentary hot-spring and fitness access is off-site at affiliated hotels rather than inside this building.
